    Default Issue with VW Beetle 1974.

    Hi Guys, We have an issue with the 1200CC VW Beetle.
    The car is getting extremely hot. Its the Aircooled orignal engine.
    The Oil lights turn on and the oil become very thin. Any one with any idea how to prevent this.
    We are using Caltex Castrol GTX oil. (20-50).
    Any one with any idea how we can resolve this issue.
    @Storm or any one else.
    If you walk away from your car and don't look back, you have bought the wrong car.

    While answering another post a couple of other points popped up in my mind:

    --The engine case must NOT be painted!! There has been much debate on this on VW forums around the world and the final verdict was that it IS a cause of overheating.
    Also the engine shields must only be painted black and not other colors.
    --The engine compartment rubber seal which goes all around must be in good condition. This can only be installed with the engine out of the car.

    Regards.
    If there are no Beetles in heaven, Im not going!!!
