    Default 69' Beetle without AirCooler

    Hi Guys

I need some help from X-perts.

As some of you might already know about my buggy (Runtime...Okm) DIY Project.

I have reduced the weight of my car to about 300kgs. (orignal in excess of 600kgs)

Body is Open, and so the engine is.

Engine is open to Air Coming from Front.

    Question

    1-Does it require Interal Blower?
2-What i remove the internal Blower (Connected with Dynamo), and Blower directing assembly?
3-Has Any1 Done that, in Open Engine Engine Enviornment?

4-I have example of Alots of 1000cc Bile and ATV, GoKart Engines?

5-Do you recommend an Open VW Beetle 1500cc Engine without Blower, If yes WHY?, If no WHY?

no, bad idea regardless of situation and location. also this engine is cooled by air and the oil flowing in the system, 1000cc bikes and ATV's have watercooled engines (radiatored).

removal of the fan shroud and fan would lead to instant death of the engine.

if you want good air flow, get the oil cooler flowed by a radiator repair guy and get a fan which is well balanced (damaged ones tend to wobble which can cause serious damage to your engine, generator/alternator and other parts near by)

agree with Asad, the pics you put up and all good but i';ve owed a Ducati Monster and it's one of the cheaper ones 620 to 750i.e. that don't have an oil cooler (the little rad the) the monster 1000 and most of the sports bikes at that level have coolers with dual fan sucking air through them not sure of the other bikes. One reason for their enginering is the V twin engine. Each of the cylinder head barrels is in direct contact with constant air flow "\_" this sort of layout. the vw is a flat four.

On another note the vw does have the oil cooler rad thingy in the fan shroud, so it really is oil cooled and you can take that away from it.

If however your for whatever reason you wanting to remove the shroud all together. than get an after market high capacity oil pump like the Maxi 3 it has and oil in and out. have the oil pumped through a larger external oil cooler placed on the roof perhaps, I'd recommend an elecric fan for when car cars stuck in traffic. but then again findin one in pakistan's prob not goin to happen.

agree with asad the gremans never over engineer...

These words are worth their weight in gold so all must take notice.

Experimenting with aftermarket fanshrouds and oil coolers is not at all recommended in Pakistan. If you have very deep pockets and go to the US or UK every month AND have good relations with the Customs then its a different story.

The VW engines' cooling system is so precise that the most respected aftermarket VW parts dealer, Gene Berg says on his website (which SELLS parts) that no change should be made to the original cooling setup on a VW engine. Not even a single nut or sheetmetal. I hope this convinces everyone.

    @ storm

    Thanks for the compliment!

But I believe its just a case of me being an 'andhoon may kanna raja' (One eyed king in a group of blind people) here on Pakwheels.

On international forums there are people correcting me in many things and I learn a lot. So if Im honest, I cant claim to be a Mr-know-it-all.
