    Thumbs up Yamaha to invest $150million in Pakistan

    This is the latest and confirmed news. I heard the news on GEO and also came across this LINK

    I see it as a prologue to an entirely new era in "motor biking" in Pakistan. For the first time Yamaha will locally manufacture bike from 125 to 150cc range, plus the bikes will be featured with EFi technology.

    Lets hope they bring something according to the desires of the biker's community.

    Is it worth switching from Piaggio to YBR125?

    There's only one real draw back that YBR might have... i.e. a 10PS or 9.8 bhp engine vs CG's 12 Bhp one!

    With lesser bhp.. its also much heavier and that can make people think twice before loosening their pockets for a slower bike!

    A fancy looking, branded, Japanese bike thats slower than a local built... is ehhh... ricer stuff!

    I wish Yamaha has something up and serious in their sleeves..

    Something that eats up a CG completely in the breakfast!

    I do have a CG... I love YBR's design, I love the brand! I do wonna switch to a more upscale, stylish bike.. but man power is an addictive thing!

    I dont want a very awesomely built, stylish, expensive 125 that drives like a 100cc bike!

    Agreed, shouldnt just 'look' sporty, has to be fast as well.

    Gs has a ridiculous price but you get 13.5hp engine with 12 torque, and this bike can be modified visually to a large extent. 130k for a 10hp machine is a bad idea when you can get a piaggio for 110k which can have a 200cc swap for like 35k or even a 250cc for 50k

    Here's something fuelheads could do, wait a few months for Yama's to fill up the second hand/scrap market. buy a near totalled one with the frame in good condition, fix it up with its tanky tapa and fit in a CG engine if possible.

    That said... Im still tempted to try new YBR.. specially if theres a 150cc model by Yamaha Id love it!
    And... If the 10bhp machine is fuel injected (EFI) then Id accept it no matter what because EFI is LOADS better than a carb!

    i am very much sure on ybr performance it would not let us down in performance
    it outclasses our made bikes here in almost all terms but if we just hold one
    point top speed & acceleration than its obvious it would not outclass cg as its
    also 125cc machine with very good power but here i am sure it would not outclass
    ybr here too even if cg beats ybr in acceleration yet difference would not be too much
    regarding top speeds both will have near same top speeds but here big chances ybr
    would beat cg but again there would not be huge difference as cg can manage 110km/h
    and naked modified can touch 120km/h too

    so just don't hold on one point top speed if you will compare ride of both bikes at those speeds
    ybr is definitely going to outclass it still no personal driving experience but i believe experience
    on ybr would be really smooth & one can drive it on 100km/h fairly easily as bike manages these
    speeds with low rpms i think it does 100km/h at 8rpm

    CBR250cc & CBR150R has nearly same top speeds too

    YBR is offering alot in the price what we were getting deluxe & gs
    there are lot of things to enjoy in ybr hopefully it will be successful
    ride when people will test its ride and for touring purpose those
    guys who do long journey its going to prove very good ride

    soon bike will be available and we will have real test of it & reviews

    To add further, the rear wheel is of 18 inches, which will result in little lesser acceleration but a better top speed and road grip.

    As per the dealer the bike comfort and power is same as gd110. This makes me bit concerned.

    DYL was with yamaha for long and when yamaha break up with DYL they started selling junoon with DYL logo so to many ppl yamaha is DYL

    Launch of Yamaha should have been a disaster for Honda but with this bike and this price tag Honda can continue its CG for many more years.
    And those who think YBR can outrun CG in top speed than facts and figures says this is't going to happen as YBR has all its power in the middle of rpm range.
    one more thing the YBR we are getting is China Made and for a bike which is made in china 130K is't a reasonable price tag and only chinese version is with carb rest of the world is having efi.
    and just read some reviews of some bikers from china who owned YBR, the bike have some quality issues.

    And yet again we Pakistanis crying over Yamaha and telling everybody that this is a chinese made bike with Yama Logo, i mean first we cry that we dont have healthy competition and monopoly of few auto makers and when somebody tries to break that monopoly we start crying again and dont accept the change. Try to accept the change people!!!

    Reasonable price tag is whatever the buyer is willing to pay for it. I remember Yamaha doing some survey of university/college students a while back about new bikes. There were pictures shared here on PW about it at that time. Jab log bongian maarte hain that I will pay XXXK amount for this bike and YYYK for that bike, company takes that as a guide in its pricing among other factors regardless of the fact if said person has the cash and the will power to actually go ahead with the purchase.

    If during their market surveys they had gotten a slightly more damped response, they would have priced the bike lower to entice customers. Just see the over-enthusiasm for this normal standard bike here in this thread. Who wouldn't want to exploit that to maximize profits? Just to give example of this phenomenon, see how the price of GD110 has rocketed up (14K in around 2 years) since introduction.
