Angry YD 100 (4 Stroke Yamaha)

    Salam PW members,

My ride completed 52,000 Kilometers and now i think its asking either engine opening or not sure what. its smoking like cegrite. too much smoke coming out of it. Engine oil also leaks from bottom. Mechanic told me that it needs new ring pistons, but he has to open the engine and repack it. which i am not in favor as i am not sure they can do it or not. I am living in lahore so anybody can help me find either good mechanic or any suggestion.

Also it stops whenever it wants to. i mean there is no visible issue, i took it to machenic but still nothing. but it stops whenever it wants to automatically, too much pain if i am not around some mechanic, and strange thing is that it auto starts i mean i dont do it anything.

Can you please guide me? should i reclean my Petrol tank ? should i over haul its engine ? any suggestion ?

(btw i bought this bike in 2006 and till now its been rocking but now its getting pain in the PC )

    Many Thanks

Hidalgo can guide you more about overhauling etc ..

And about stopping..Did you checked the fuel? Means fuel's flowing when bike stops?

mechanic is right.yes it needs new rings as far as the smoke is concerned and a new seal kit(gain kit) also called gaskits.rings replacement will make it smoke free.

yes u need to overhaul engine.. immediatly stop it .. dont even kick it..
u will definitely need to overbore it and install new piston .. also some more work may be needed..
total cost if it was cd 70 with janyan honda items would cost 8k .. if oem items used it would cost 3-4k ..

i am not sure how much yama will cost..

regarding mechinics abilty.. yes its pretty much day to day task .. any mechanic will be able to do it..

however go to one u trust ..
the most important task will be performed by kharadia who will bore the cylinder and check head valves etc for any leak etc.. get the best kharadia do it..

kachra in fuel has nothing to do with smoke.rings are gone its time to replace them. buy it from a dyl shop or take your bike to near 5s shop .they have a specialized tool to set fuel mixture .get her tuned .yama 4 parts are expensive..........

Well we can't jump to a conclusion so easily...
Yes the work is required, but it depends how much work is required on ur engine. This can only be checked once the engine is opened.

    Point to be noted...
Only ur engine head will be opened most probably so dont be worried about it.
Smoke in silencer can be due to worn out valves/valve seals/rings/piston... Any one or all of these - so find an honest mechanic and sit on his head as he does the work!

If a complete general overhaul is required and ur engine is done - means completed its life( Yama 4's engine should work fine for up to 75,000Kms before it requires an overhaul if kept with care thus i doubt about the problem being in the rings + piston)
then the cost is going to be immense! - At least at least 10,000Rs.. put them aside.

If complete engine has to be opened and connecting rod and its bearing is also changed then put aside up to 15,000Rs.
Since genuine Yamaha parts are really really expensive!!

Rs 8,000 for Head Cylinder Overhaul is too much

If above is true than Honda CD70 is blessing, below are the Honda Genuine (Muhmmadi Autos Rawalpinid) Rates:

Ring Piston Complete Set Rs 1,000
    Valve Set Rs 350
    Valve Guide Rs 300
    Valve Seal Rs 200
Half Join Kit including all Gaskits Rs 300, It is not from Honda, separate genuine kits are available if required on different rates
Lathe Machine Rs 350-500, depending on Ustad
Labour of mechanic about Rs 250-400

So I guess maintaining YD 100 is difficult ..............

Yamaha Best quality piston kit - around 2500Rs
    2nd quality piston kit - 1500Rs
    Others - 1000Rs

Even now DYL is using 2 type, 1500Rs piston in new bikes.
