i think its fake news or if there is any truth in this than they just gonna launch over priced bikes like honda and suzuki did.

Thats a great news. If YMC comes with this package(ybr), and i wish they come, the only survival in the Pakistan's current bike market would be the Suzuki GD110 being equiped with the state of the art SOHC engine.

I find it pretty hard to beleive that Yamaha itself would bother to setup something in Pakistan where they can only sell a few scant motorcycles.

The old dawood yam ltd was a small venture - just like IMC is to Toyota.

Once upon a time it was true, but the motorcycle world has changed tremendously with Chinese and Indian manufacturers. Once the Japanese were called the BIG Four (Honda, Yamaha, Suzuki and Kawasaki), then Kawasaki's fourth position was taken by Piaggio and they never took it back. Now its chaos, Chinese and Indian manufacturers claim to be among the top three manufacturers. The Japanese want to keep their lead.

So, the Japanese auto makers (including car manufacturers) are setting up wholly owned companies around the world, including third world countries with less than one quarter of Pakistan's population. They also do it to avoid huge import duties in most developing countries. Now, it is the only way to compete with cheap Chinese (and Indian in other countries) bikes.

I find your approach a bit flawed - how would you satisfy the project if you were employed by Yamaha and were to pitch it. Your notion of chinese are super duper manufacturers does not hold true - they are still lacking on the "reliability and longevity part" in every machine they make under their own name - not talking about off shore branded production.

What sort of profit roll can Yamaha be promised from Pakistan unless they setup production with export capabilities.

Same was the case for many other names - Toyota, Honda, Nissan, Hyundai, Mazda - you know what they do now. a little example is that in the global parts catalogs - not one part of the first two brands say "Made in Pakistan"

after approx 20 years - Really?

Dawood Yamaha was/is misusing the copyrights, Hence the original withdrew from the project of DYL,

The original plan for investing for the south Asian plant in Pakistan came in the Zardari regime but due the so called political situations Yamaha's investment was backed off. After the nawaz government came into power the news of the investment was very much hipped, Looking into which even Honda Atlas (bikes) had announced to increase production capacity of the plant.

Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

If this sort of investment was offset by political muscle and put in place again by political muscle - then its already a closed case of what the future holds.

From his post what i understood is that he tried to say" Chinese and Indians CLAIM to be among world's top manufacturers." And Piaggio is not "Ravi-Piaggio", although i highly doubt on the Piaggio's 4th position in international market.

I know he mentions the original Italian Piaggio.

The biggest rulers of the 3rd world motorcycling world are still Honda. You can even find them in very remote places in South American countries and even in the remotest areas of the African Savanah.

bikes like the C-50, CG125 etc and a myriad of small quads
