    Default Yamaha yd-100 4 stroke overhaul

    Aslam O Alikum guys, hope you are doing fine

    I have Yamaha 4 stroke yd-100 (simple not junoon). its 2009 model and has done 28k Km. I bought it slightly used (1km used)
    I would admit I didnt give it much care. oil changed very late. tuned very late. mean every maintenance was done late
    Now it has lost its luxury of pick and performance. kick would flip. clutch issue etc etc. and give bad smell when parked.
    my mechanic (Yamaha 1s center) has said this require immediate overhaul of full engine cost Rs 8500/- . clutch plates ring piston rod etc will be added . if I delay it it will cost more
    (He advised it last month for Rs 6500 and I delayed) today he quoted 8500 as more work is required now.
    even though i didnt much care it but isnt it too early for overhaul ? is it wise going for it or engine swap is better. how much would it cost

    anyone experienced overhaul please shed some light

    28k is very early IMO its a rock solid engine are you sure powerloss is due to weak engine

    it has lost power gradually and now it would work like donkey if 3 people are sitting and sucks on 1 person only as well.
    its giving bad smell too. oil was changed only a month ago with full tuning, mechanic said dont spend on these worthless tunings and do overhaul immediately within 15 days. I used it for 1 month and now he is saying expense will be 8500 as more work is required

    Bhai g jaldi say engine overhal karwa lo wanrna expense aur ziyada increase ho jayian ***. Mara ik friend hay us nay aisa hi kuiya jasa ap kar rahay ho 13k lagay complete engine overhal hua hay har purza naya laga hay lakin us ka junoon 100k chal chuka tha.

    The symptoms

    "Now it has lost its luxury of pick and performance. kick would flip. clutch issue etc etc. and give bad smell when parked."

    you have mentioned is more related to Clutch plates. Kick slip, low pick, low acceleration, donkey ride when 3 people. If there is no white smoke or unusual sound from the engine then why not just do the repair work for clutch, replaced your clutch and pressure plates, gear box if needed.

    IMHO you should not go for the engine overhaul for now.

    I think I should get it evaluated from other mechanic too. and then go for what look best
    This bike has clutch issue from day one and I replaced the plates twice already.

    Check breather pipe if its chocked/clogged oil will became slugh and will go bad soon
    P.s breath pipe shouldnt be hard as rock

    Faheem bro, consult with a good mechanic, engine overhaul should be the last option for you. You just need to figure out the exact problem because Engine overhaul is not the only solution for every problem. Do not lose bucks unnecessary.

    ok if I go for overhaul or parts only. which oil should I use, yama lube or some other? what specs 20w50 somthing like that?

    and at what interval should i change oil/tune it and 2ndly load and speed

    Parts it depend what part have gone bad mostly mechanic don't understand the importance of rockerarm being up to mark a bit wear of 0.5mn can effect valve lift now about oil the one available at dyl is worse oil one can buy get PSO generator oil 15w-40 its have a lot of zddp of to protect engine and good for break in about oil change 1k km or 3months is best for interval again i would say check breather pipe

    @saboor73 15w-40 is heavy generator oil, isnt its too much for a 4stroke bike engine?

    15w-40 is actually thinner than 20w-50 no matter hot or cold
