Default Guidelines for purchasing a used yamaha ybr-125

    Dear all,

First of all, I apologize if this has been discussed anywhere and I could not find it out and bothering anyone by asking again.

I'm planning to buy a used Yamaha YBR-125 and I seek guidelines from experienced users as to what should I check in the used bike. I'm switching from Pridor so I don't know much of recent gossip of YBR forums.

Any help would be highly appreciated.

    Regards!

    Dear Mr. @hamikhan,

Thank you for warning me. The weight of your advice is doubled by a like from Mr. @f4fraz. I'd request both of you to kindly enlighten me a bit more precisely as to what kind of issues are likely to be faced if we buy a used YBR. Are those issues present in a lot of bikes and not being addressed by the company? Please consider a bit detailed reply. Thanks.

Moreover, I'd like to invite the attention of respected PakWheelers @Naveed4speed and @DJNOMI on the topic and seek their opinion as well.

    Regards!

Well ybr needs a good mechanic.
Before searching a good used bike.
    Search a good mechanic.
There are no issues in ybr except the after service.
And thnx for considering me for opinion.

    Thanks for quick response.

Would u suggest me any other bike e.g. Wego, Ravi Piaggio 125 and GD 110S etc? or would you prefer YBR on these bikes? BTW my personal interest is in Piaggio and Wego as well.

@f4fraz bro how u see after sale service of Wego?

    Asalam Alaikum bro
    how are you?

May be readers think I am saying not to buy YBR. I am not saying this.
    But just used...

bcz this type of machines are used as test by owners
may be u can get 30%-50% good performing machine but mostly chances to sell are faults and un satisfaction from users/owners.
again saying not cause of the Yamaha/YBR. Caused from mechanics/accidents/crashes etc.

what if u carry a mechanic with u to chk ybr... the people who don't even know purely abt the machine, how can judge its healthy for u...

i m not agree with the people who claiming abt speed and performance etc.
this analysis is due to their over expectation with this or these type of machines.

alot ppl ask me in sense that "wego le len" "ybr le the bht bari galti ki"
even to those i wasn't reply tht "oh ybr fails" "wego is one n only bike fit"
bcz i know the sense of ppl.

i always reply bros test it, review it, explore it then the decision is urs. buy or not goes in ur favor or loss due to every once thinking.

    and last my good bro
i drove it 172 KM the running period is still remains but i didn't found any start/on-off/electric/break/acceleration/running/parts-sound issues.

i talked to customer support staff from head office lahore near FC college. found them co-operative and suggestive after purchase of bike and hope in future too.

wego ke price no doubt high hay but i count every penny comparing parts used in it and reach the conclusion the price is not bad.
simple gs150 ko ye parts lagain??? kya price bany gi?
    2+ Lakh

i m not talking abt the gs150 custom which is selling over pakwheels and olx. tht is not fit over the demand. the parts of such beauty... used in wego and on record bikes fz etc.

next comming bikes ka kuch keh nye sakta ke wo kesi ho gi bcz abi tak dekhi nye samny se. benelli and keeway
but kuch chezy abi bata sakta hon

wego ki seating bht wide hay aur back seat sedhi hay bulky ppl easily beth sakty aur long root pe thakan... sawal hi peda nye hota.

3 persons ke sath bike smooth chalti hay aur handle and wheel balancing tooooo good.

baki ap read kar sakty hain mera aur dosry wego users ka review.

Wa Alaikum us salam @f4fraz bro.. I'm fine hoping same for u. Thanks a lot for such detailed replies.

What I get from above discussion is that:

    1) Chances are that we might find some used YBR machine in good condition without any issue. (Not all ppl sell bike due to bike issues. Some need cash, some upgrade/change their ride or location etc.) We need to be careful in examining the bike.

    2) We have to have a good mechanic within approach to get most out of the bike and to avoid various maintenance related issues.

Provided the above 2 points, I find myself again at the starting point i.e. WHAT SHOULD WE CHECK IN A USED BIKE AND HOW?

For me, it's mostly visible condition and feel of test ride.

The purpose of discussing it here was to get awareness about known issues by experienced users and to check the bike specifically for those issues (e.g. Variuos/some YBR models are reported to have _________ issue, check the________ thing before buying a used bike).

I'd request all senior/experienced PakWheelers again to kindly be precised about discussing issues, their checking and solution (if any).

YOUR KIND ADVICES/GUIDANCE IS MUCH NEEDED AND WOULD BE GREATLY APPRECIATED.

    Regards!

Wa Alaikum AOA bro.. Thank you for sharing your experience..

YBR is without any doubt a quite potent/capable bike. Manufacturing or maintenance issues in some bikes don't tantamount to product/company failure.

I'm still waiting to learn about known issues in the bike.

    Regards!

    1. Start the bike in cold condition, put your hand on silencer (cold bike ) and check how many sounds are coming from engine

if you notice only engine sound, then its good (you have to do this test with 2,3 YBRs of your friend Better if those bikes are new

so that you may imagine that how good and new engine sounds?

if you don't have any YBR in your friend's than go to showroom and check there.\\

    2. Start the bike and give some throttle upto 6000 RPM and listen the engine sound ( if you listen sounds other than the engine sounds Which you listened from healthy/Showroom YBR, it means engine has problem)

    3. take test drive , check brakes, as leathers of YBR are very costly.

    4. Check the battery, as some people put 3rd class batteries/cheap one while selling bikes

(connect both battery terminals for a while and see the spark, good spark means good battery health, however usually battery is not given so much importance while buying a bike)

    5. check Wheels front and rear
park the on double stand and rotate the rear wheel and observe whether tyre rotates smoothly or bubles

    6. observe is there any damage to frame/acid spots/scratches or symbols of repaint (repaint may indicate paint after accident )

    7. look for scratches on Tank and side covers.?

    8. check the bike owner ship from Computerized book and also verify the details from www.mtmis.punjab.gov.pk

    9. check the engine no on book and see this matches with engine no of bike also chasis no

    10. take the book of bike and take to 15 office, pay 300 fee and check whether bike is clear or any FIR is registered against bike??

    11. when purchasing the bike see the expiry date of CNIC of previous owner, if CNIC is expired than you may not transfer bike to your name

    12. make transfer deed from Excise and taxation office upon the fee of 300-400 and take signature of owner on transfer deed (here CNIC and signature of previous owner is also needed

    13. take file with book of bike (check the original purchase order of bike with date and stamp, Excise forms which are given upon registration

    14. take both keys, computerized number plates, and original parts if some alterations are made (silencer, gear lever, clutch/brake leaver,

15 . make a sales receipt put your signature and take signature of previous owner on this receipt (this receipt is separate from transfer deed)

    16. better you do whole deal in front of some witness

    17. when you give the payment count it twice and say to seller to count twice in front of you

    Thats it

its complete Standard operating procedure (S.O.P) of buying a used bike/.

pakwheelers ad points if i missed any point/useful step

@aliarshad26 you nailed it bro. I extend my heartily gratitude to you for such a comprehensive SOP. It is so nice of you. This is what I really needed and was looking for. It'll surely help me go through the whole process of buying a used bike. BTW, was this SOP already available somewhere or you just made it today?

Any other known issues/checking procedures are warmly welcome.

    Regards!
