but R6 looks very very same to R1...dont you think its a drawback by yamaha...i mean something had to be different...atleast something...from a distance nobody (atleast me) cant differentiate between a R1 and R6...wut do you say?

due to my height restriction i'm only capable of riding 600's with confidence. i'd sure love to have a go at the R6!

A good friend of mine is a mechanic for motorsports of miami and according to him ALL newer model sportbikes made by suzuki, kawasaki, honda and yamaha are equally reliable.
Even the performance difference is barely noticeable unless you are a professional rider who races exclusively on the track.
According to him as long as your take care of the regular maintenance and have regular oil changes your bike will last for a very long time. Here i saw a 2001 R1 with 120,000 miles on it and it runs great.

This is a fabulous bike with a whopping 17,500 rpm redline. In my opinion the best 600cc bike out...BUT, with such a high revvin' motor, you need to keep it on the boil (above 10,000) to enjoy the benefits. For anyone other than a serious trackman, the new 2007 Honda CBR600RR is down to 412 ponds wet (18 pounds less than the '06) and has massive midrange driveability, so it gets my vote for overall rideablity...

    My 2 cents...

But wait until you see a brand new company come out with a 600cc bike that will weigh 380 pounds wet and put out 120 hp with a very phat midriff...hehehe

MotownMadman Unfortunately the 17500 redline claim wasnt true. Here are the details.

Redline lies: When Yamaha introduced its 600cc YZF-R6 motorcycle, the 17,500-rpm redline prompted more than one comparison to Formula 1 engine speeds. When the bike was run on various aftermarket dynamometers, it turned out the tachometer read nine percent fast, and the engine turned out to be limited to a true 16,000 rpm. However, at the rev limiter, the bike’s tachometer reads 17,500 rpm. After this news, Yamaha offered to buy back any of the early R6 units sold, no questions asked. It’s strange that Yamaha allowed the tach to enter production; the R6 is a superb machine that is closer to being a dedicated track bike than ever before.
