LF-A is a two-door supercar developed by Toyota’s luxury sub-brand Lexus. Although the concept of the car had been in development since 2000, the production version of the Lexus LFA was launched in 2009 at the Tokyo Motor Show and the car was officially produced from 2010 to 2012. The car went on sale back in 2010 for USD 375,000. It is one of those cars that even Jeremy Clarkson of Top Gear admitted that if he had to have any car ever made, he would get an LFA in blue color.

Lexus LFA was equipped with an amazing rev happy V10 engine. And the shell of the car is 65% carbon fiber reinforced polymer, one of the most advanced shell of a car ever made. The engine was a 4.8L motor mated to a six-speed sequential gearbox. The maximum horsepower produced by the LFA was 560 bhp at an astonishing 8,700 rpm whereas maximum torque output was rated at 480 N·m. An interesting fact about the V10 engine of the car is that Lexus engineers decided to go for a V10 because it could rev higher than a V8 and overall had less weight than a conventional V12 motor. The Lexus CT 200h engine is so rev happy that it can rev from idle to redline in 0.6 seconds. And that is the reason they went for a digital RPM meter than a conventional analog meter. The LFA does 0 to 60 mph in 3.6 seconds and can reach top speed of around 325 km/h.

LFA has won all sorts of awards from renowned publications throughout the world. Evo UK awarded LFA’s V10 engine the best engine in 2011. Lexus LFA chief engineer Haruhiko Tanahashi was awarded the Men of the Year award by Top Gear magazine along with Jenson Button in 2009. Car Graphic magazine awarded LFA “Best Cars of the Year 2011”.
