The 1st Generation Nissan Otti was introduced in 2006. Nissan Otti is a front engine front/four wheel drive subcompact kei car. Nissan Otti 1st Generation is based on the 1st Generation Mitsubishi EK, it features the same chassis and engine but with slightly different styling.  Nissan halted the production of 1st Generation in 2010. Nissan Otti was available in 5 trim levels S(Basic), E, RS, RX (turbo) and Rider (turbo). The price of the 1st Generation Nissan Otti is fairly competitive when compared to other models in the same class available in the local market.

The exterior of the 1st Generation Nissan Otti features a fairly restrained design language. The front end houses rectangular headlights, a rectangular grille with multiple inlets, a rectangular air intake and a flush bumper. The rear end houses vertical stacked rectangular styled side swept taillights and a standard case hatchback. Nissan Otti Rider Package comes with exclusive bumper and grille, chrome mouldings in xenon headlamps, rear spoilers and dedicated alloy wheels. The overall exterior of the Nissan Otti features a fairly unique design language that is familiar to Nissan Kei car platform.

The interior of the 2006 Nissan Otti features the use of black and silver plastic trim pieces. The front and rear seats are covered in beige or black fabric. Standard features include air conditioning, power windows, power steering, power lock doors, trip computer and a tachometer. Features on the higher end Rider and RS variant include a front and rear spoiler, Xenon headlights and front and rear fog lamps.  Options include a satellite navigation, climate control, cruise control and DVD input on the stereo speaker audio system. The overall interior of the 1st Generation Nissan Otti features a good amount of interior space for a kei car of its exterior dimensions, it also offers a good level of comfort and interior refinement.
