Nissan sunny which was previously known as Datsun Sunny had its production started from 1966. Although the manufacturing of the vehicle stopped in 2006, the name was still used in the Chinese market. The automobile is also known as Nissan Sentra in North America and Nissan Tsuru in Mexico. The vehicle was manufactured to compete the evergreen Toyota Corolla. The successors of Nissan Sunny are Nissan Sylphy and Nissan Tiida.
There are three famous Nissan models in Pakistan, one which is the B13 (1990-1993) model, B14 (1993-1998) model and the last one G10 (2000-2005). In Pakistan, the G10 was also known as Nissan Sunny. However, the vehicle was originally given a name of Nissan Sylphy.
The B13 model came in three engine trims, 1.4L I4, 1.6L I4 and 2.0L SR20DE. B14 had two engine variants namely 1.6L GA16DE I4 and 2.0L SR20DE I4. Nissan Sylphy named Nissan Sunny in Pakistan had a variety of engines to choose from, 1.3L I4, 1.5L I4, 1.5L diesel, 1.6L I4, 1.8L I4, 2.0L I4 and 2.2L I4-T diesel. However, not all the engine trims were available in Pakistan due to limited demand of the vehicle.
Talking about the 90's model, one can buy the car with figures around 0.5 million. Used Nissan Sunny of couple of years old model is going to cost around 1.0 million.
Available variants are:
Nissan Sunny EX Saloon 1.3 and 1.3 (CNG)

Toyota Corolla and Honda City are direct competitors of Nissan Sunny. Making things simple, there was no fierce competition between the vehicles in Pakistan as it is tough to change the mindset of people from purchasing a Corolla or a City to another car. In the international market, Nissan Sunny had a good role. Coming back to Pakistani market, the people of Pakistan have always wanted a vehicle with good resale value. There is no doubt that Nissan Sunny has an excellent and comfortable drive compared to both City and Corolla, but it lost the war when it came to resale value. If the vehicle had good resale value, there was no doubt that the vehicle had been flourishing in the market. The second generation Nissan Sylphy known as Nissan Bluebird stands nowhere between Toyota Corolla and Honda City. It is a vehicle which cannot be compared in any case to both the vehicles. The class, the durability, the speed, the comfort and the safety it has is just exceptional. But it all sums up it has terrible resale value, and that is the reason it is not present readily in the market.
Nissan Sunny resale value is deteriorating as years are passing. Dealers avoid dealing in cars that have little profit margins and poor resale value, and Nissan Sunny was categorized as one of them. Although the vehicle is reliable, durable and promising but people of Pakistan have a very strict checklist for the vehicle to become successful.
Nissan Sunny B12 and B13 were the most popular models compared to the other models. A very big reason why these cars were present in good amounts back then was because of low competition. There were not many vehicles and variety in the market back then. A person who was satisfied with a Toyota Corolla or Honda City, happily purchased Nissan Sunny, but now there are many other options in the market which drags down Sunny car in the list.
