Toyota Rush is a seven-seat version of Daihatsu Terios and is sold by in countries like Malaysia, Egypt, Chile, and Pakistan as well. Not a very popular mini SUV but still is seen on roads. The vehicle was unable to create the demand in the Pakistani market as the vehicle couldn't satisfy the needs of the people here. A major reason for the failure of this mini SUV was because of below average off-road capabilities. If you see Suzuki Jimny on the other hand, it has performed even better than what Suzuki expected, and the main reason is that it has decent off-road capabilities along with on-road performance. Toyota Rush also lacked because of the body style, although the road-clearance was good, there was low grip and traction which makes it easy for the vehicle to roll-over even if you take a slight speedy turn.
A 1500cc I4 engine is present in the market however in the international market there is a TRD model as well which is surely better than the simple version. The TRD model has sports suspension, braking system, and better grip.
The latest models of Toyota Rush are not available in the market however; you can find 2003-2009 models. Price of Used Toyota Rush of the above mentioned years is around PKR 20 Lacs.
Currently, available variants are:
Suzuki Jimny and Nissan Juke are direct competitors of Toyota Rush. Although Toyota Rav4 is somewhat the same but head on comparison can be done with juke. Both the vehicles are available in 1500cc engine however Nissan Juke has performed well in the market compared to Toyota Rush. Suzuki Jimny can also be compared with Toyota Rush, although the vehicle is much compact than Rush but still it has better performing skills.
The resale value of Toyota Rush is not at all worth commenting. It seems the vehicle waits for an owner, and once you own the vehicle, it starts depreciating at an unstoppable rate. One should not expect to purchase Toyota Rush keeping in mind that it's going to make them good profits if you do so, you've wronged yourself. The vehicle is such that owners don’t want to own it and dealers don’t want to purchase it, unless the owner is selling it off very cheap and the dealer is sure they can earn some thousands over it.
As mentioned above, Toyota Rush failed to create its demand and failed miserably in the market however the only model seen is the 2007 onwards model. The latest model is just waste of money as people have way better options to purchase and the older models are just too compact for a comfy ride.
