Honda Insight entered the production line in the year 1999 however the vehicle was produced till 2006. After receiving a gap year, the production started again in 2008. The first generation was a three-door vehicle. The second generation was introduced in 2009 which had a hybrid platform also seen in Honda CR-Z.
The first generation Honda Insight was ranked as the most fuel efficient the United States Environmental Protection Agency certified gasoline-fueled vehicle with a highway rating of 25.9 km/l till 2014. Even though the second generation was more technologically advanced but it lacked fuel efficiency possibly because of increased size, weight and power. According to US Environmental Protection Agency, Honda Insight average fuel consumption is 18.18 km/l.
Honda Insight seen in Pakistan is the second generation five-door, five-passenger hatchback. The Honda Insight hybrid received pretty well fame in Pakistani market.
The hybrid vehicle is available in 1300cc and 1500cc with a standard CVT transmission.
A used Honda Insight couple of years old is going to cost you around PKR 15 Lacs however if you jump up to the next year and better version it’s going to cost easily around PKR 18 Lacs.

Toyota Prius is a global competitor of Honda Insight. However, Toyota Prius sales figures are way above, not only in Pakistan but around the world. The design of Prius along with many other features makes it likeable amongst the people. The fuel economy of both the hybrid cars is good but when it comes to power Toyota Prius wins the heart. Car and Driver magazine performed a speed comparison of both the vehicles.
Honda Insight 2010 model achieved 0-60mph in 10.3 seconds whereas Toyota Prius 2010 achieved the same speed in 10.0 seconds, the quarter mile in 17.9 seconds at 78mph where for Prius it was 17.6 seconds at 79mph. The interior of both the vehicles is spacious however 2010 onwards Toyota Prius interior makes you feel as if you're seated on an aeroplane.
The overall resale value of the vehicle is not worth praising. As resale value plays a significant role during the purchase of a car, it serves as a setback when people think of buying Honda Insight. People consider Toyota Prius as a much better vehicle regarding speed, power, room and above all resale value. Good vehicles fail in Pakistani market because they cannot make a good resale value in the market.
There is the only second generation of Honda Insight present in the Pakistani market, however, narrowing down the popularity feature to versions, the most popular version is G. Vehicles like Honda Insight, which are not demanded so aggressively by the market are mostly found in the base grade versions only.
