Toyota Indus just dropped amazing news of officially launching the Fortuner GR-S and Revo GR-S models in Pakistan. Both the models have been launched with 5 variants each and come with some exciting features! The exterior of the Fortuner GR-S is adorned with a GR grade mark on the front and back, along with front fenders, a new front fog lamp cover, and a new 18-inch all-black alloy design.  The interior of the car is based on a new premium black interior scheme with gr red stitching. The seats are draped in suede and leather material, while the steering wheel comes with red stitching adorned with the GR emblem. The Optitron meter has been redesigned with red dials, and the car comes with a new design of carbon fiber gear shift console. Additionally, an 18 INCH ALL BLACK ALLOY DESIGN is also part of the package. The interior of the Revo GR-S comes with a new premium all-black interior scheme with GR red stitching. Toyota has unveiled another facelift of Yaris in Thailand with some major design modification. The newly launched facelift is refurnished version of the Yaris launched in Pakistan in 2020. In ASEAN market, Yaris was launched in 2013 and got a major update in 2017. Coming to the design language of the car, front fascia carries a hammerhead design, Toyota flaunted in its other cars but not in Yaris’ models. Moreover, the front bumper comes with sharp angles, character lines displaying a wide lower apron with functional intake vents. Sharper notched L-shaped headlamps ahead of bonnet are slimmer. Taillights on the rear profile look same as last generation headlamps but the bumper has been revised to include faux outlets at the corners. Further down, there is diffuser-like element with carbon-like pattern and black trim for the new reflectors. Highlighting the interior of car, both variants Premium and Premium S carries a larger nine-inch touchscreen head unit. All the variants have an eight-inch screen, Android Auto and Apple CarPlay. Whereas new seats, new trim, and USB-C ports come as new changes in the facelift. Furthermore, 4.2-inch Optitron multi-info display, keyless entry and engine start, four or six speakers, T-Connect telematics, and a panoramic view monitor, fabric or leather seats, 15-inch wheel, four or six speakers, T-Connect telematics and a panoramic view monitor, are the features offered inside the cabin. Safety features in the Thai-spec Yaris are Pre-Collision System (autonomous emergency braking), Lane Departure Alert, Rear Cross-Traffic Alert and a Blind Spot Monitor. Passive systems such as VSC, traction control, hill start assist, ABS, EBD and brake assist. The car is powered with 3NR-FKE 1.2-liter NA four-cylinder engine carrying the capacity to produce 92 horsepower (hp) and 109 Newton-meters (Nm) of torque mated with CVT-I transmission giving the power to front wheels only. Claimed fuel economy is 23.3km/l. Color Options are Cement Gray Metallic joins Spicy Scarlet, Platinum White Pearl and Red Mica Metallic to provide customers with four two-tone themes – all with black roofs. Monotone options include Attitude Black Mica, Metal Stream Metallic, Urban Metal and Platinum White Pearl. Recently, the federal government added a 25% General Sales Tax (GST) to expensive goods. The Federal Board of Revenue (FBR) confirmed this additional tax by issuing a new sales tax notification under SRO 297(1)/2023. Yet this tax application also applies to some vehicles that weren't 1400cc cars. The essential point to observe was that all domestically produced or assembled SUVs and CUVs, including those with engine displacement lower than 1400cc, were included in this tax category, which is why we were anticipating a fresh price increase.  Toyota has stated that the economic uncertainties and highly volatile situation of PKR against USD have had a negative impact on the cost of manufacturing for IMC. Consequently, IMC is finding it challenging to maintain the current indicative retail selling prices, and as a result, they are required to pass on some of the impacts to the market. Moreover, on the 8th of March 2023, the Government of Pakistan issued a Statutory Regulatory Order (S.R.O. 297(I)/2023), which increased the Sales Tax rate to 25% on all CKD vehicles with engine capacity of 1400cc and above (excluding IMV-I Single Cabin), in accordance with the Sales Tax Act 1990. New Toyota Car Prices The car assembler has increased the prices of all of its CKD variants. Here are the revised Indicative RSPs (Ex-Factory Karachi) for all CKD variants prices of the vehicles. Yaris New Price Toyota Yaris 1.3 MT LO now costs Rs. 4,499,000 instead of Rs.4,316,000. Whereas, Toyota Yaris 1.3 CVT LO has a new price of Rs.4,789,000 compared to the old price of Rs. 4,588,000. Toyota Yaris 1.3 MT Hi now costs Rs. 4,759,000 instead of the old price of Rs. 4,558,000. Toyota Yaris 1.3 CVT Hi also has an updated price of Rs. 4,999,000 instead of the old price of Rs. 4,790,000. Toyota Yaris 1.5 MT used to cost Rs. 4,911,000, but now its new price is Rs. 5,429,000.  Toyota Yaris 1.5 CVT now costs Rs. 5,769,000 instead of the old price of Rs. 5,213,000. Revised Price of Corolla Toyota Corolla 1.6 MT was priced at Rs.5,576,000 a couple of weeks ago, but after seeing an increase, it now costs Rs. 6,169,000. The price of the Toyota Corolla 1.6 CVT was also raised to Rs. 6,769,000 compared to old rate of Rs. 6,111,000. Similarly, the price of the Toyota Corolla 1.6 CVT SR was priced at Rs. 6,716,000, but today, it has been raised to Rs. 7,429,000. Toyota Corolla 1.8 CVT used to cost Rs. 6,423,000, but now its price has been hiked to Rs. 7,119,000.  Toyota Corolla 1.8 CVT SR had an old price of Rs. 6,998,000 and now it costs Rs. 7,759,000. Toyota Corolla 1.8 CVT SR BLK used to have a price tag of Rs. 7,039,000 but now its rate is Rs. 7,799,000. Toyota Revo Updated Price Toyota Revo V AT 2.8 used to cost Rs. 12,969,000 but now costs Rs. 14,389,000. Similarly, Toyota Revo V At Rocco had a price of Rs. 13,675,000 a few days ago. Now it costs Rs. 15,179,000. Toyota Fortuner New Prices Toyota Fortuner 2.7 G Petrol used to cost Rs. 14,230,000 but now costs Rs. 15,809,000. Similarly, Toyota Fortuner 2.7 V Petrol had a price of Rs. 16,297,000 but has now been hacked to Rs. 18,099,000. Toyota Fortuner 2.8 Sigma 5 Diesel now has a price tag of Rs. 19,079,000 as opposed to the old price of Rs. 17,175,000. With dwindling sales and production cuts ruling in the local industry amid prevailing economic breakdown, there seems no change in Toyota Indus Motor (INDU) ‘New Model Launch Plan’. Despite the year-on-year (YoY) and month-on-month (MoM) sales took a nosedive, the company is gearing up to launch facelift of its bestseller sedan ‘Toyota Yaris’ this year. In a communication, sources stated that these are planned 36-48 months in advance and new variants of all brands such as Yaris etc. will be launched as per plan. Meaning, Toyota lovers may expect Yaris’ facelift by the end of this year or early next year. It is pertinent to mention that Yaris was launched in March, 2020, and it’s been three years since the car came to Pakistan. Adding more to the episode, our credible sources also revealed the plan to come up with a local assembled hybrid car, probably Corolla Cross, stating, “hybrid vehicle launch is also as per initial stated plan and will only face delay due to external circumstances.” Toyota Reports 52% Drop in Sales Following Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), Toyota Indus Motors (INDU) sales also marked a new low – posted a slump of 52% (year-on-year). Similarly, monthly sales followed the footprints – the company reported a severe downtrend since June 2020. Highlighting YoY sales performance, INDU stated that sales are down by 52% in 1HFY23. Coming to monthly sales, the company sold only 1803 vehicles last month. It is the lowest sales trend since COVID-19 shattered the local auto industry. And the reason for the prevailing sales crisis is again import curbs inflicted by the State Bank of Pakistan. The company’s management revealed that sales would have been better if LCs are allowed.
