After X70, Proton Sedan is on its Way to Pakistan!!
After the launch of X70, Proton SAGA is coming to Pakistan very soon. As per our sources, the car may hit the local market in the coming weeks. Although no date has been confirmed, however, sedan category will have a new car at end of February or start of March 2020, the sources added.
Proton has already created abuzz in Pakistan with its the launch of its compact SUV, X70, back in November 2020. The company introduced the vehicle in Front Wheel Drive (FWD) and All-Wheel Drive (AWD), with very reasonable prices. The car will give a tough competition to KIA Sportage and Hyundai Tucson, later this year.
Proton SAGA:
According to reports, Proton Pakistan will launch this sedan in three variants: Standard MT, Standard AT, and Premium AT. All these variants will have 1299cc engines, which the company has downsized from the original size, especially for the Pakistani market. Other feature highlights include:
- Alloy rims
- Side mirrors with integrated turn signals
- Rear spoiler
- Fog lamps
- Dual front airbags
- Anti-lock braking system (ABS)
- DRLs (Premium AT)
- Stability control (Premium AT)
- Traction control (Premium AT)
- Front parking sensors (Premium AT)
- Reverse camera (Premium AT)
Final prices of Proton Saga are still in the dark. However, the closest guesses are in the range of 2 million to 2.5 million rupees.
Expectations:
The new sedan will surely be an exciting addition in Pakistan because of its Malaysian design and reliability. However, the major question would be on quality of its locally assembled units. There have been cases in Pakistan when companies launched great CBU units, but their CKD ones were not at par. Henceforth, Proton Pakistan has to meet the expectations for success.
Furthermore, will SAGA be a good competitor of dominant rivals like Toyota Yaris and Honda City or fresh entrants like Changan Alsvin? Only time will tell, we just hope that it would emerge as a reliable vehicle.
