Karachi Seaview Road Closed due to Cyclone Biparjoy Alert
In a recent development, Karachi’s Seaview Road has been blocked for traffic, following the imposition of Section 144 in coastal areas, including the Defence Housing Authority (DHA). The restrictions have been put in place to prevent people from visiting the beaches amid safety concerns in light of the approaching cyclone Biparjoy.
Traffic Blockade Due To Cyclone Biparjoy
As per the latest reports, Sea View Road has been blocked from a local restaurant to Khayaban-e-Ittehad. This move aims to ensure the safety of the public and avoid any potential risks associated with cyclonic conditions. Traffic management authorities have redirected the flow of vehicles to minimize disruptions. Traffic from Khayaban-e-Mujahid is being directed towards the service road, while traffic from Khayaban-e-Ittehad is being diverted back to Khayaban-e-Saba.
Furthermore, Abdul Sattar Edhi Avenue has been closed at Sehr junction, and the traffic from Dolmen Mall, Clifton is being diverted to Khayaban-i-Ittehad via Saba Avenue. However, there is an exception for traffic from Clock Tower towards Dolmen Mall, which has been allowed to pass through.
Precautionary Measures in DHA
In anticipation of the approaching cyclone Biparjoy, the residents of the Defence Housing Authority (DHA) have been advised to take necessary precautionary measures. The hurricane has intensified into an Extremely Severe Cyclonic Storm (ESCS) and is expected to make landfall on the southeast Sindh coast, affecting areas between Pakistan/Rann of Kutch-Indian Gujarat coasts by June 15 afternoon as a Very Severe Cyclonic Storm (VSCS).
In response to the escalating threat, the DHA administration has issued an alert to its residents, urging them to be prepared for any emergency situation that may arise. The advisory includes securing basement entrances and windows to prevent stormwater from causing damage to houses. In case of any emergency, residents are encouraged to contact the DHA helpline at 1092 for immediate assistance.
As the Arabian Sea cyclone Biparjoy approaches Karachi, precautionary measures are being implemented to ensure the safety of the public. The blockage of Seaview Road and the imposition of Section 144 aim to mitigate risks and protect individuals from potential hazards. With the cyclone expected to intensify and make landfall, the DHA administration has alerted its residents to prepare for the severe weather conditions. By adhering to the advisory and taking necessary precautions, residents can minimize the impact of the cyclone and stay safe during this challenging time.
