MG 3 in Final Stages, Will be Under Rs. 2 Million – Javed Afridi

Another day, another claim by Javed Afridi – the poster boy for MG Pakistan. In a fresh Facebook post, Afridi has once again shared the video of MG 3, hinting the launch is near as he wrote: “Yes, below 2 million MG 3. In Final Stages.” Here is the post:

Now, if you remember, it is the fourth time Javed Afridi has discussed the price of this hatchback. Back in February 2021, he hinted at the launch of this car under Rs. 2 million, causing quite a stir. However, it was total silence for quite a long time, then he once again shared an update, and earlier this month, he once again asked people to guess MG 3’s price.

One thing to remember is that MG Pakistan has never officially shared any update or possible launch timeline. We even told you that MG didn’t mention this car in its upcoming lineup. But it seems that Javed Afridi is bringing the car to the local auto market.

Will it be possible?

MG Pakistan has not sold a single locally assembled unit of its cars so far, including MG HS and MG ZS. Although Afridi has shared videos of MG cars being on an assembly line, none of them have reached dealerships. So, the history is not in favor of the company. Furthermore, the industry experts believe MG still doesn’t hold a license to sell CKD cars as it has not fulfilled the government’s requirements for Greenfield status.

We do hope that MG 3 will be launched in Pakistan soon – as Afridi said, but it still seems a far-fetched dream. Also, the company should share clear information about assembly, production and deliveries with the consumers to build trust. It would be great for both MG Pakistan and the buyers.
