Pakistan’s First Honda Clarity – Owner’s Review

Today, we are going to do owner review of Pakistan’s first Honda Clarity. This is a 1500cc Plug-in Hybrid car and you can drive it on electricity charge, petrol or both. This is a 2018 model and imported in 2021, however, the vehicle is zero meter.  The car was first manufactured in Japan in 2018 and even Japanese have to wait for 4-5 months for this delivery. The owner bought this car in Rs8million, making it a great mixture of value for money, economical and luxury.

Charging and Drive

As per the owner, you can completely charge this car on normal socket at home in only 45 minutes. “In a single full charge, the car can travel upto 100 kilometers,” the owner said. He further added that Honda claims that, on petrol, its fuel average is 28 kilometers/liter. “However, as per my experience the car gives 38-42 kilometers/liter on Hybrid,” the owner said. You can drive this car either on totally electric, hybrid-fuel combination or completely on fuel.

The company has offered two charging ports, i.e., commercial and domestic, the owner told us.

Exterior

The front of the car is very nonconventional and you can guess from its front logo that it belongs to Honda Accord  or Honda family car. The front logo also tells that this car has adoptive cruise control, also called as radar in Pakistan.

Coming to side, the first thing you will notice is its length which is 2-inch more from Accord and 8-inch more from Civic, while its wheel arches show that it is a futuristic car.  As per the owner, through the name Clarity, Honda has clarified that this car is different from its other products as the company entered in Plug-in Hybrid category for the first time.

The front lights of the car are LED, wheel size is 18-inch and its rear looks like Accord. The trunk space in the car is much more than Civic, Corolla and even Accord. The company has also provided space for charger chord in the trunk.

Interior

One of the biggest positive of this car is its spacious interior, especially seating. The seats are heated, electric and memory, while they are made of beige-colored soft leather.  The interior has very luxury feel with stitched leather and wooden touch on dashboard along with a 8-inch touchscreen. The car has digital dual AC with rear AC vents, a great option for rear seat passengers.

The transmission is very stylish and sporty as it looks like a touchpad and you just have to press the reserved button for drive, parking etc. It also has wireless mobile charger, DVR, auto dimming rear view mirror and brake hold. However, Sunroof is missing in this vehicle.  The possible reason of absence of Sunroof is airbag in car’s roof which drops down in case of a side collision. Also, the car has 8 airbags in total.

Parts and Service Availability

As per the owner, the spare parts of these imported Japanese cars are easily available, especially in Lahore. He claimed that the parts of these cars reach Pakistan in containers with these vehicles. Furthermore, the owner do car parts business and can import any part within six weeks.

Talking about the service availability, the owner told us that Honda dealerships offer service of these cars. “The company has also arranged training for their engineers from Japan for these cars, hence, there is no issue in this regard,” he added.

Suspension and Clearance

Due to the electric batteries, the car is very heavy as compared to normal cars, and it has a direct impact on suspension. Discussing this issue, the owner stated that Honda has offered arc suspension in it which is the latest technology of the company.

Meanwhile, the ground clearance of this car is 7.9 inches as compared to 4-6 inches of other imported Japanese cars.
