Civic’s Been Facing A Blow Since Last 3 Months Due to Non Production
After Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company (PSMC), Honda Atlas is facing the worst. The company is witnessing a terrible year narrating production shutdowns, low sales and shattering profit. Honda’s output is abysmal for the past three months in the face of supply chain issues leading to import restrictions. To add to the problem, its cars are insanely expensive.
Last month, Honda which is supposed to be one of Pakistan’s biggest car companies by production and sales volume, sold just 87 cars. In that bunch, the sales of Civic, the company’s flagship sedan, were zero for the third time in a row.
A recent notification stated that Honda will soon resume production. The automaker cited a “slight improvement in the accessibility of trade financing facilities” as the enabler of production restart. Although, it does not mention the exact date of production resumption.
Reports revealed that the company hasn’t produced any units of Civic in the last three months. This implies that the flagship sedan’s sales are likely to remain down in the dumps for the foreseeable future.
Dwindling Sales
As per Pakistan Automotive Manufacturers Association (PAMA) report, Honda posted a low of 58%, selling 87 units last month against 207 units in April’23. Honda Atlas sold 56 unit of City and Civic and 31 units of BR-V and HR-V.
Same is the situation with Toyota Indus Motor. The company reported a down of 12% in its sales. The car maker sold 1,718 units in May against 1,948 units in April. Toyota Indus sold 853 units of Corolla and Yaris and 865 units of Fortuner and Hilux.
Surprisingly enough, Pak Suzuki Motors Company’s sales witnessed a new high of 101% in May, selling 2,958 cars against 1,474 cars in April. Pakistan Suzuki Motor Company sold 1,902 units of Alto, 282 units of Suzuki Cultus, 148 units of Suzuki Wagon R, 332 units of Suzuki Swift, 157 units of Suzuki Bolan, and 137 units of Suzuki Ravi.
