Project 2UZ-J40 Concordia Build Thread!

Welcome to the build thread for an FJ40 project that the Awan Brothers, Dr. Ehsan Kiani and Myself are did for Mr. U37.

Its a hardtop FJ40 body/chassis with a 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8 engine and some other goody upgrades. This project utilizes and builds upon the platform for our earlier FJ40 with a 1UZ 4.0L V8 which we had named "Concordia" (see IJC Forum Thread for details). The Concordia projects have conceived and executed in Rawalpindi at the Citi Sadar Road jeep market using second hand or military auctioned parts. This particular vehicle came in from Faisalabad with some work done but had stripped down to the frame and is being fully reconstructed.

Summary Project Specs:
Engine: 2UZ-FE 4.7L V8
Transmission: Toyota H151F - 5 Spd Manual
Axles: TLC 70 series with locking diffs
Clutch:Hilux flywheel, clutch and pressure plates. TLC power clutch booster
Brakes: 4 wheel discs with TLC 80 booster
Suspension: Stock front leaf springs, 70 series rear leaf springs, Monroe Racing & Bilstein shocks.

The plan was to do a step by step build thread for PakWheels with as much detail as possible to share various steps of the development process. And the grand-plan includes, amongst other ambitions, to ultimately race the Concordias on the Pakistan jeep/4x4 rally circuit.... As yet however the quest continues with limited budgets and elusive timelines!

2UZ-FE
The 2UZ-FE was a 4.7 L (4,664 cc/284.6 cu in) cast iron block version built in Tahara, Aichi, Japan and at Toyota Motor Manufacturing Alabama. Designed for low-reving, high-torque SUV applications, its bore is 94 mm (3.7 in) and stroke is 84 mm (3.3 in).[1] Output varies by implementation, but one VVT-i variant produces 202 kW (271 hp) at 4800 rpm with 427 N·m (315 ft·lbf) of torque at 3400 rpm. JDM versions produce 173 kW (232 hp) at 4800 rpm and 422 N·m (311 ft·lbf) at 3600 rpm, while Australian models produce 170 kW (230 hp) at 4800 rpm and 410 N·m (300 ft·lbf) at 3600 rpm.[1]
Like the 1UZ-FE it has aluminum DOHC cylinder heads, MFI fuel injection, 4 valves per cylinder with bucket tappets, one-piece cast camshafts, and a cast aluminum intake manifold. For 2010, it was replaced by the 1UR-FE in all applications.

Toyota Racing Development offered a bolt-on supercharger kit for the 2000-2003 Tundra and the 2003 GX 470.
Another 2UZ-FE variation adds VVT-i and electronic throttle control.

Wow thats my kind of project , 2UZ is a very heavy engine but the vvti engines are very nice. Good at power. Wish you good luck. Will be swapping same in 80 series in future.

@qwertypoiu: The first FJ40 Concordia we are doing is a 1UZ V8. See thread on IJC forum.
@Sharabi: Its undoubtedly an expensive engine, and this particular one was acquired in a complicated swap contract by Usama Ballpark engine cost is north of PKR 300k.
@ TLCFJ40: Many thanks sir. I believe Usama tried to engage a buy back option in the engine contract but the other party backed out!

Look forward to posting more details. Currently the gearbox (H151F from a 100 series TLC) is being serviced, while the diffs (TLC 70 series with lockers and 4 wheel discs) are up next. The body is in the process of being refitted unto the frame which was prepped and cleaned out. More pics to come!
