Alhamdolillah, team IJC made a successful visit to Bannu last week for IDPs.
This first trip was planned mainly for need assesment, however we did take along Medicines, sanitory Kits, Babies milk, hand fans etc. In addition beds and beddings were procured locally for the affectees placed in one of the local schools.
Brief trip report by Ehsan Kiani
Location : Banu
Trip details.
We visited the following places
1. The main distribution point at the Banu Stadium. Well organised distribution point under the Pakistan Army. Huge amount of food stuff being stored and distributed to the IDPs with the help of international NGOs like the WC.
2. Khalifa Hospital Banu.. 200 beded hospital being managed by the army medical people. Reached here a bit late and the OPD was nearly finished so not too many patients were there at the time
Had a detailed meeting with the doctors there regarding need for medicines and got the list.
3. Got to know of a school where some 36 Christian families from Waziristan were living and were facing a few problems. Interviewed the families and the administration there and found out there needs. They needed bedding, fans and a few other stuff. We immediately ordered charpais and talais and pillows for the place out of the funds we had at hand. Will be following up here for further assistance soon.
All in all it was a productive trip. Apart from medicine donations to the hospitals the schools in which the IDPs have been settled are an ideal setting for providing assistance to. They are confined to a defined space making distribution and need assessment easier and have lots of needs.
Plan is to identify more such schools and their requirements in the coming days and help them with the things they need.
I would like to thank you all for the support and encouragement and also NN and Mustaghese sahab and Waqas for arranging and management of the trip.
Let's pray for and help the ones in need.

Alhamdolillah, team IJC made a 2nd successful visit to Bannu yesterday for the IDPs.
Trip 2 report by Dr. Ehsan Kiani ( Sunday, 27.07.14)
"AoA, we are back (myself, NN and Salman) while Akif and Bilal must be around 45 minutes out of Pindi as I am writing this.
Today we first went to the same school that we visited last time around. Here we distributed some of the hygiene related stuff that NN procured yesterday and that the University ppl had bought. Gas stoves were also handed over. We also gave away some 100 hand fans, bats, balls and footballs (the later two courtesy of Gen Kamal Akbar via Aamir bhai). We also bought more charpais (beds), pillows and tallais for this school as well as 10 pedestal fans that they urgently required.
In the next school we again distributed the above stuff that we had taken along and bought them 20 beds that they urgently wanted.
Later we met Mr Todd Shea, an American, who has been working in Pakistan for relief work for years now. He briefed us about his NGOs operations there. They have take over and renovated a children ward in a reasonable sized local government hospital. It has 20 beds (the ward) which he says is usually full. They are running it themselves. He is also running a Basic Health Unit on the border of banu and Laki Marwat where his doctors see and treat 400 patients on a daily basis. Apart from this they have two mobile medical teams which hold medical camps daily in different villages. Commendable and impressive work. He is supported by the Imran Khan Foundation and the provincial government.
Anyways we handed over the rest of the stuff to him which his people will be distributing to the patient's they see at the BHU. We talked about future collaboration between his NGO CDRS and the IJC as well.
Akif and Bilal had brought a lot of stuff including clothes too. They went off to look for a place where they could distribute them and I was told that after a lot of hard work they were able to distribute there stuff today.
In short the IDPs have now dispersed into the various schools, houses and hujras in and around banu and Laki. It's hard to find them in one place where we can do the distribution and assess their needs specially if we are there only for a few hours. Akif and bilal did a wonderful job doing the ground work looking for ppl deserving the stuff. The two places where we have done the work won't be needing much more assistance from us in the near future I think. We therefore have to pin point other places we can contribute to."
Alhamdolillah, team IJC made a its 3rd successful visit for the help of IDPs.
Team IJC comprising members Yasir, Nadeem Bhai and Tufail bhai went over to Lakki Marwat to deliver various Food Items for the IDPs in the area of Lakki Marwat. It was a days trip from Peshawer to lakki and back. This trip was mainly for food distribution and need assessment. Further details will be documented by the visiting team in due course. Pics of the trip from mid page 4 onwards. Would like to make a special mention here for Yasir Qayyum for all his help in stuff procurement n distribution and arrangements in Lakki.
Extremely grateful to all the members for their contributions, of time, ideas, effort, motivation, financial, moral, big or small. In addition to multiple individual generous donations for the IDPs, as a humble gesture, all of the club members fees for this year were donated to the IDPs fund.
