i'm a 4x4 enthusiast and though haven't been able to get my hands on one yet, would love to own at mutt someday.

i wanted to ask some specific questions from the knowledgeables here:

• is it possible to swap a different engine into the mutt, like a v6 or a modern efi engine?
• are canopies available for the mutt, like ppl use wrangler tops on willys?

Yes but i think its best to keep it running with original engine.
& Yes but you really have to look around for it or may be get one made.

Tell me where do you live, may be i can help you get one with in your budget.

You know guys can Put a Honda D16 Motor in a mutt very easily. Plus you get efficiency over power. 115 horses propelling 1070 lbs, power to weight ratio... do the math!

Engine costs around 40k, with installation it couldn't go any higher than 80k.

Today i saw a early 4E-FE modded into a mutt, quite smooth and quiet but the major drawback was that almost none of the firewall existed, most of it was cut off, which is not something you'd do on a uni-body vehicle.
