Default Strange Accident of PIA Pk-300

Crew forgot to lower the landing gear before landing. The aircraft made belly landing. Passengers and crew were evacuated through emergency escape slides. Some of the passengers received minor injuries during the evacuation process. After repairs, the Boeing 747 was put back into service. Two PIA air-hostesses, one seen near the first emergency escape slide (wearing purple color uniform shirt) and the other one near the second emergency escape slide (wearing magenta color uniform shirt), are moving away from the stricken aircraft. And you can see fire fighters giving attention to inner star-board engine

95% of the load in landing roll is borne by the autopilot and the instrument landing system...

fokkers only have localizers that can only automatically align the aitcraft to the orientation of the runway.
moreover, arabs land the rather bizzare way because they make use of "wind correction" as theres usually lots of turbulence in arabian weather front...ever boarded PIA flights to balochistan? u'll know what i'm talking about :-)

Actually PIA Pilots are one of the very skilled in the world. I am not related to any of them, just the facts.

I've worked with some Airlines in US, and American Pilots practice the Hard-landings in US as well, just as their Arab counterparts do. It lands the plane faster and one which requires less skill. Its a bit scary and not very comfortable, as you can feel the plane hitting the ground hard, and it knock your body quiet hard, followed by a quick thrust reverser, that involves slamming the hydraulic Brakes and shutting down and reversing the engines to make a full stop fast, a very uncomfortable and nauseating experience.

The PIA pilots are trained vigorously to perform the smooth landing, which requires alot more calculations, Cross-winds, the vector, shear wind, Thrust, drag, altitude descend, etc. have to be in perfect harmony, to land the plane smoothly. Plus they apply the brakes smoothly and their thrust reversing is down at optimum, I don't know how they do it but plane stops, smooth as a knife on the warm butter, slow and easy. UNLIKE the American and the others....

You have to give credit where its due, and Pakistani PIA pilots are very good at this difficult manuer of smooth-landing. They do it to ensure a trouble free and Top Class smooth landing for all us Pakistani Passengers of PIA, and THIS IS HOW WE THANK THEM. By making fun of them. Now who is stepping over the line.

As regards PIA pilots, I think they are the best. I have travelled several airlines and noticed that the smoothest landings on PIA, though their cabin service and passenger handling sux big time.

The worst landing I remember was onboard a DC-10 of Biman (Bangladesh Airline) in June 2002 at Kathmandu (Nepal) and back to Dhaka, it was so hard that I thought that pilot had broken the landing gear.

Actually, if landing are done as per the book, it is not ultra smooth, because when landing heavy jets, one has to take care that to smoothen landing touchdown, aircraft does not float to much and land much further casuing less runway avaialble for landing roll. Textbook landing is the one in which the aircraft lands on spot, very soft landing is good for passengers but not what is considered ideal.

Secondly, this 747-200 is a very old model, they did not have GPWS (ground proximity warning system), they are available in newer models.

    Come on guys.Cant u see???
just look at the pic which shows the front of aircraft.DONT U SEE THAT FRONT WHEELS ARE HALF OUT??
Pilot DID applied landing gear but somehow it had malfunction and didn't properly deployed,so pilot did the next best thing,an emergency landing.
Please refrain from commenting without looking at things properly..thnx
Qaiser Pal,I have not failed. But found 1 of 10,000 ways which doesn't work.....Toyota driver "I couldn't repair my brakes,so i made my horn louder"..When i was born i was so surprised that i didn't talked to one and half year..since light travel faster then sound, people appear bright until you hear them speak..If u can't convince them, confuse them
