Hi all Bruvs,
Well its utterly wrong to say "Pilot Forgot to Engage Landing Gears"!!!, Common sense can be used here if you see the pictures.
1- 747 always takes off and lands like a Duck, which means while taking off the nose slightly goes up and then the rest of the body lifts up. While landing the Belly is always touched down, then the nose is brought down. Now what you see in the pics is that the Plane's belly from tail to its nose is in one Peice, meaning the pilot had to land the plane in such a way that it slides and lands on its own due to friction.
If the pilot had forgotten then the aircraft would not have been in 1 piece but in Multiple pieces!
2- That flight was "Inbound" meaning it was a Domestic flight. In all Domestic flights some fuel is kept as reserve, but in this case the pilot dumped the fuel since he knew it'll be an Emergency landing. He dumped the fuel in order for the Plane not to catch fire due to friction.
So the Conclusion to the topic is, The Pilot was HIGHLY SKILLED and he SAVED HUMAN lives by landing the plane on its belly when the Landing Gears failed to work and Malfunctioned!! It could have been a worst crash and many would have lost their lives. In the end I am proud to be a Pakistani, since Pakistan has given birth to the BEST pilots in the World (Both in Airforce and in Commercial Airliners)
Regards,
Ahad.
