Samand" RUNNA " A new production of IKCO

Hey guys I'm back with a news of Iranian car industury.Yesterday a new model of samand brand was launched at the headquarters of "IRAN KHODRO Co." This model which is named RUNNA, is developed by IKCO's R&D center located in western Tehran. This C-Segment automobile which will enter the market in end of 2009 is equipped with a 1.6 lit. petrol and 1.7 lit. CNG based engines.

It's the first Iranian car which has been designed with "pedestarian Impact" in mind.RUNNA has won 3 Stars by EuroNCAP center and is capable of aquiring the the Euro4 and Euro5 "Exhaust Emissions" Standard.

The final production Rate of this vehicle will reach 150'000 Units/year,while 25% of the production is aimed for export.

while there are some flaws, but the overall design of this car is pretty good.

I've heard from some sources that in a few months a right hand Drive version will be offered for some asian and african markets. Most probably Pakistan will be a destination.

What do you think, will this model gain any success in Pakistan?A few years back Samand (the first one) was exhibited in an Iranian expo in Pakistan(IIRC Karachi) but because of it's higher fuel consumption (9.5 lit/100KMs) it couldn't catch any attention. But this car will be equipped with 1.4 & 1.7 lit. each with 78 and 157HP, CNG Based engines with manual transmission, and 1.6 lit. petrol, 110 HP with both manual and auto transmissions.

If launched in Pakistan, how many models it has to compete with in that market?
