Please listen to my story and suggest what I should do.
So once there was a happy-running GD which started giving me a lot of rattling noise from engine head. It was already 8,000 km since last tappet adjustment, so it was long overdue. Suzuki recommended valve adjustment schedule:
I went to Suzuki showroom for this purpose, but probably they need a hearing aid or need to see an ENT specialist to have their audibility corrected. In short, they didn't hear any rattling sound in the engine and the tappets were declared to be perfectly tuned. I reassured my GD not to be sad and I will definitely have her tappets adjusted.
So I went to my road-side mechanic who I visit for minor things like chain adjustment, nut-bolt tightening, etc. So I asked him whether he can adjust GD's tappets; he replied in affirmative and I gave him the job. It was 2 - 3 weeks ago and my GD has never breathed well since. The engine has started stalling ever-since the tappets were adjusted. I took her to Suzuki and explained my problem; they tweaked the mixture a little and told me it should be okay now. But it wasn't (as I learned when I hit the road). A few days later I went to them again and the guy their again did an "audio" test of tappets (as he suspected tappets might had been over-tightened), but declared them to be okay and again tweaked the mixture settings a little, saying if this doesn't solve your problem we will open the carburetor and check for any problem (no, I am not letting that happen; please read on).
So I went back to my road-side mechanic last night and cried out my problem, and requested him to loosen the tappets a little. He did something with the tappets and it seemed okay at the moment because engine was "hot". Now when I got up in the morning and went for a ride, the situation had worsened. The engine was stalling ever so much than before even after I had driven it for 4 - 5 km at 60+ km/h!!! And the sound from engine head has turned to a very "thick" grunting sound.
I can't make anything of it I don't know what has gone wrong with my beloved
Now I am thinking of taking it to Suzuki showroom again in the morning and just ask them to loosen the tappets fully and then re-adjust them to their proper clearance. I think this would fix both the problems: the awkward head sound and the engine stall.
I repent having had its tappets adjusted by a road-side mechanic I thought it were just tappets, he should be able to do them right.
Experts, please suggest what else am I supposed to do.
