Any aftermarket lights will have this problem, but its a good thing you have kept the originals safe. I have used the smoked ones myself, best thing to do is buy them brand new and re-seal them with transparent silicon gel, that will help them last significantly longer. Also, if you are planning on installing HIDs, do not allow the installer to cut the back rubber cover, tell him to shove the bulbs through them or if they try to dodge you then you will have to DIY it at home. Problem is that dust and water go into the headlights and that kills them soon. This goes for any sort of headlights.
