Well now that the debates over, lets get back to the original topic.

I have to make a decision within the next 2-3 weeks and although I have already decided, still to want to see what other people have to say. The choices are

1)UP6i - DLS Ultimate 6.5" 2-Way Component System[/url]
2)165KR - Focal 6.5" 2-Way Component System with TNK Tweeter

@mani1. sir i havent heard any of these components. so i can only advise you based on reviews.
i think either the DLS or the Focals will be nice out of those 3 options. just see which one has the sort of characteristic sound that ur looking for...bright, mellow, or stong and punchy...

Sir I am looking for a set which has a sweet sound (with respect to texture) and it should be somewhere between neutral and bright. Btw for the tweeter characteristics I follow the following pattern

Laidback--->Natural---->Neutral--->Bright

where difference between natural and neutral is marginal and hardly noticeable to normal ears. Already have Morels which are neutral so looking for something different but definitely not bright. Midbass does not matters because I'll be using a PRS anyways. However most importantly the set should not be too revealing because I'll primarily be using mp3 as source and I don't want to win a SQ competition but rather enjoy driving instead of worrying about compression artifacts etc.

Any other recommendations can also be given. Budget around 30k

Dls up6i is the best bang for the buck in the components you listed.they are shallow so quite easy to mount if installed properly they produce quite good midbass. The tweeter is very sweet and overall very natural sounding comps.They can take plenty of power i remember powering then with 200rms each side.
you cant compare focals to them as focal are quite punchy and bright.
I listen to DLS for quite long hours continuously and i have never got fatiqued by the sound.
I have always heard good thing about Rainbows but no idea about their lower line. if you can afford Germaniums, they will do the job.

Nice to see people here who have actually owned high end brands. Dont you think this time I should opt for something different as I already have a neutral sounding set, Morel Tempo 6. Otherwise yes you are right that in its price nothing beats the DLS set. Btw did that paper cone troubled you at all?

that was one of the best threads i have read in my life. Thank you everyone here who has posted. being a car junkie and a music head i was rushing into buying some stuff for my car (well not that expensive but close) and my greatest fear was the fact what if i dont get the desired result of the system. So right now im on a pioneer 6050ub got front components (pioneer) and my first ever speakers bought 3 years back which are now being used as rear fillups (kenwood 718). Need advice on upgrade. What do you guuys think is the first thing which should be replaced ? I was thinking of putting in some alpine type R or fusion NV series right now...

up6i have aluminium cones if you are mistaken or you might be looking at older version.
I liked the sound of unpressed paper cone rather than aluminium cone.Morel Tempo are entry level comps from Morel and they are way behind the DLS set.If you compare Tempo,DLS Rs6a and Focal 165KR would be a good comparison.
I have DLS R6a and DLS nobelium tweets in my car and they rock. I personaly dont like Morels even if they are Piccolo or supremo just because they are made by Israeli jackassesssssssss.

I actually found out after I purchased them. However I love their sound and if Focal was not so cheap here, I would have gone for Morel once again, probably Morel Elate. Anyways, their entry level line is Morel Maximo and not Tempo and after comparing Tempos to Focals and Infinitys I am loving them! Yes one can compare the Tempos with MS6A but not 165KR which I am sure is better (except if one highly dislikes brightness)

Ok I just checked the specs for UP6i and it is indeed Aluminium cone! I always thought it was paper cone....now it is becoming very tempting

I would post some pics when i get time.Another choice is a bit out of budget but if you can afford is Audison Voce AVK6 is very nice and have won this year EISA award and also Hertz HSK164 has good sound.
I am in a process of having Hertz MLK 165.
I dont know if in Pak original focals are available but focal are famous of their low bass and bright tweets which shows clearly they aint for music listeners.

Hertz HSK 165 is a no because it would be a downgrade. Numerous reviews state Morel Tempo 6 to be better than Hertz HSK 165 except for the midbass (which I dont really care about) because I have fully dynamated doors and a PRS sub. Also the Hertz tweeter is said to be bright

I was seriously thinking about UP6i today until I realized it is not available on amazon. Its a shame coz I can only order from Amazon as Woofersetc and Sonicelectronix both dont accept Pakistani credit cards. Amazon infact has no other DLS products. Guess I'll have to stick with Rainbow or Focals.

The focals available here are genuine for sure coz have heard 3/4 sets. The access and polyglass line are surely bright and not for my taste but the Power line is amazing. It has only a slight hint of brightness which is perfect for me. Also surprisingly the Focal Polyglass V30 is a very natural sounding set with balanced and sweet sound. Heard it in tech143's car and was pretty impressed.

sir i don't know much but i've doing extensive research for the last 1 month on components (for a good sub $300 components) and during my research the only high end to ultra high end brand names in components i heard people talking about were rainbow, dynaudio, focal, morel, hertz, dls, hat imagine and a couple of instances of image dynamics. Jl audio no doubt is a vgood brand but i havn't come across audiophiles discussing it on any forum. Do you have any links etc?

Another important info i want to share is that i am looking for components which are slightly on the bright side which effectively eliminates dls iridium (most natural sounding set)

sir no sub this time.....bohat kharcha hai sub ka......type s or pioneers for the rear fill. With proper sound dampening, i believe the kick would be enough that i won't miss a sub. Also the krx2s would be out of budget. I am already stretching to max the budget of 40k and at the moment focal kr2s are way in the lead however my only concern is their mounting depth and now the diameter which you mentioned. What do you think of the price of kr2s i am getting i.e. 37k?

Btw sir the infinity kappas we talked about also had 2" tweeters and its reviews showed that its also bright with crisp and clear highs. Have you auditioned them?

Jbl is nice .... Buy way too expensive .. I say not worth to the buck...well no offense to jl lovers...its my personal comment....
