Acoustic energy from speakers is converted into mechanical energy because of vibrations, resonance and coupling problems with plastic board. The cone has to move the air, but the plastic is not rigid than plyboard/ chipboard and starts to resonate. That resonance is caused by acoustic energy.
Even the baffle of chipboard/ mdf resonates when big subs are tuned low. Thats where double baffle comes in to stop the acoustic energy transfers.
