Now begins the tough part. But I guess this is also the fun part of it - tuning. I moved the midrange drivers to the A-pillars. For now, I'm testing different positions and angles for speaking placement. Currently, I have taped the midrange drivers to the A-pillars just 1 inch above the dash, firing at each other off-axis. The tweets are positioned high on the A-pillars as well, off-axis. I'm gonna fiddle around with these till I find the best spot. They will be fibreglassed next. Suggestions from audio gurus will be more than appreciated.
The helix software is fun to play with. Extreme flexibility and numerous possibilities. It does not have a steep learning curve, I quickly adapted to it. Now the initial tuning run begins. Setting crossover points and slopes before firing up the system:
A late night initial tuning run. For now, I am using my 80prs. The HU has been set on standard mode to feed a full range signal to the DSP. I'm gonna replace the HU soon iA. I played around with the slopes and filters for the initial setup. Temporarily adjusted the levels and TA. After finalizing the speaker locations, and grabbing an external mic, I'll start with EQ.
