I personally have seen such cars in Karachi - in the expensive brands, you can pull information of the actual engine hours and drivetrain mileage - the cluster can be fooled to show a diff mileage with some hack jobs but its easy to see the real mileage. In the small car flavor category, mileage is stored to NVM, but that NVM can be "taught" too.Everyone here on PW has heard about Toyota hilux Vigo failures - One similar vehicle was given to me for repair - it was a Hiace, I was shocked to see that the oil filter on the engine was original (what the factory puts on) - mind you this filter is not available as spare part - when you open it, you will find it tightly packed with cotton fibre type material. The other bit was that the fuel filters were also FS parts. the mileage on the ODO showed something of 20,000/- but the steering wheel, seats, gear lever, light stalk had smoothed out, more like polished out, Its obvious that a human being does not have "regmaal" for skin that could cause that. - I also saw the so called japanese auction sheet which claimed the recorded mileage to be 19,000 or something.Someone within Japan should confirm that is mileage recorded in Japanese car registration/taxation systems or are these auctioneers just picking them up at the auction - which opens a great window of oppurtunity for such activity.
