ISLAMABAD: The Oil and Gas Regulatory Authority (OGRA) has recommended substantial increase in gas tariffs for industries, fertiliser factories, power houses, CNG stations and the domestic customers from January 1.
OGRA recommended that the tariff for domestic customers using up to 100 units of gas per month could increase by Rs 6/14 per MMBTU, for up to 300 units by Rs 12/28, and those using more than 300 units by Rs 30 per MMBTU. For mosques, churches and seminaries, a price hike has been recommended in the range of Rs 30 to Rs 430 per MMBTU. Gas tariffs for army messes, private educational institutions, government and semi-government offices and hospitals would also shoot up.
Similarly, OGRA has recommended a gas price increase of Rs 48 per MMBTU for commercial customers, Rs 6/48 for tandoors, Rs 48 for ice factories, and Rs 39/38 per MMBTU for the industries. A price increase of Rs 51.87 per MMBTU has been proposed for CNG sector, Rs 59 for cement factories, Rs 9/25 for fertiliser factories, and Rs 39 per MMBTU for government and private power houses.
