"Do not follow where the path may lead. Go instead where there is no path and leave a trail" ~ Ralph Waldo Emerson
Roughly 70% of Earths surface is covered by water. The other 30% is covered by land, but quite a large part of that is not accessible in a traditional vehicle. There are few vehicles to choose from if you really want to explore the inexplorable. And were talking here about the Land Rover, Mercedes-Benz G Class, Toyota Hilux, FJ-Cruiser and of course the Land Cruiser.
DAT (Dutch Amfibious Transport) DAT BV | Dutch Amfibious Transport Vehicles is here to show the world the ultimate Land Cruiser you can get - the Amphibicruiser. DAT Amphibicruiser will go where the others cant; and that's the water, of course. Built by hand, this brick-looking monster that will scare away every soccer-mom is built around a Toyota Land Cruiser 4.2-liter engine which drives the FJ 40-on-steroids-looking car in a normal 4x4 mode on road, easily sticking with highway speeds. But enter a lake, pond, river or canal and at the flick of a switch, the engine will work a set of water jets underneath the car to propel it at around 8 mph (13 km/h).
Of course, to achieve this, the underpinnings of the Vehicle have been waterproofed as well as the door and rear hatch. The starting price for this amazing machine is ?130,000 ($180,000) for a 2-door soft top and can raise up to 180,000 ($248,700) for a 4-door version. DAT hopes to shift the Amfibicruiser to a larger production if the army or rescue companies are interested.
