Indeed. That crazy monarch, along with his crazier brother, spend about 20 % of Brunei's oil profits on new cars. They have paid and continue to pay Ferrari, Aston Martin and Bentley obscene sums of money for one-off cars. The station wagon and the 4 door saloon versions are based on the 456, while the weird looking supercar is a Mythos, which was only intended to be a showcar. The Sultan also persuaded Bentley to build him a saloon, coupe and a 4x4 version based on Bentley's Java concept. He is rumoured to have about 3000+ cars and the guy I keep yapping about, Mr. Ben Sulayem was invited for a look and he returned dazed by the vulgarity of the sheer number of cars lying unused.

:O...I'd rather you adjusted the paraphrasing I thought this forum had broken up with humour and was now steady with cars only.

@ sheriar Please elaborate on your statement. These cars aren't of a different class, these cars are in a class of their own. They were made specifically for the Sultan, because he paid the companies enormous amounts of money.

1996 Ferrari FX
Price: est $2,000,000
Layout: Mid-Engine/RWD
Transmission: Williams-BMW 6-Speed Sequential
Type: Flat-12
Displacement: 4942 cc

Very little is known about the FX. The car was specially made by Ferrari for the Sultan of Brunei and is loosely based off the 512M and was designed by Pininfarina. It uses the same 4.9 liter flat-12 engine, but the power output is unknown. Anywhere between two and eight cars were produced, but the exact number is unknown. The main feature of the car is the transmission, which was developed by Williams BMW. The 6-speed sequential is similar to the unit found in the William's Formula 1 car, and supposedly cost over $1 million.

Description
Having only 28,000 miles and being one of only a few built, this car was made by AMG for the Sultan of Brunei. It is right hand drive and UK registered. The standard Sl was about £108k new. This S1 was in excess of £160k ( On the Topgear program Jeremy Clarkson said £250k) It was reputed to be the fastest convertable ever made at 211 mph.

Having the same 550 horsepower 7.3L V12 as the Pagani sports car, it has all the AMG updates and also has also been fitted with many Mercedes special options like anti flash wing mirrors and heavy duty underbody protection. It is in immaculate condition with all services up to date. It is quite cheap to run as the spares are less than a Ford or Vauxhall if purchased from Mercedes garages. Fuel consumpion is up to 27mpg. Its mid range power and overtaking ability can embarress Ferraris and superbikes.

It is my personal car for the last 2 years and I have covered about half of its mileage. Although it is a monster of a car my 15 year old daughter has done 50 laps at a private track with the car on her own. (I taught her to drive in it). Part exchange and finance available.

Cyrus, the Sultan of Brunei has sold a lot of his cars to collectors around the world. For example, his SL73, his Ferrari 456 Venice estate, his Ferrari FX, his Lamborghini LM 002, his customized Bugatti EB110 SS.
The Sultan, as you all may know, was the richest man for quite a while. He had $45bn+ at in the 90s but after the Asian crisis and because of his brother's stupidity, he now has around $7bn. The Sultan's a nice, down-to-earth guy, not that interested in cars. His playboy younger brother Prince Jefri and his eldest son Prince Haakem are the car enthusiasts and their daily average spending every day was around $700,000 in the 90s. The Sultan's younger brother had 3 yachts called ****, Nipple 1 and Nipple2 (I thought that was really funny). The Sultan got pissed off and kicked his younger brother out of the country and stopped spending on supercars. He then locked the supercars up in huge warehouses, all covered and lying there idle for god knows how long. He sold some of these exotics later to other car collectors around the world such as Marconi who bought the Blue Ferrari FX from him and keeps it in his Ferrari museum.

He has 5000 cars (all logged on to a central computer system) and I am going to list only the ones that I found.

Ok the list:

1. 200-300 Aston Martins (all kinds including the rare AM3s and AM4s). Pic: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm
http://www.classicdriver.com/uk/magazine/3200.asp?id=10495

2. Lots of Rolls-Royces. He used to buy 40-50 per year with a specail 'Sultan Spec' engine and each of them cost around 450,000 pounds. He is in the Guiness Book of Records for owning the greatest amount of Rolls-Royces. He bought 12 Phantoms last year. A special Rolls-Royce he has is a 542hp, twin-turbo Rolls Royce. He also has Rolls-Royce stretch limos.

3. Bentley Dominator - a Bentley incorporating Range Rover's 4x4 system called Dominator, Bentley Biturbo and Caterpillar transmission. Pic: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm

4. Bentley Java released in 1994. Modified and sold to the S.O.B. Pic: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm
http://www.rrab.com/java.htm

5. Bentley Java (Estate, Silver), Bentley Grand Prix, Bentley Pegasus (Estate),

6. 6 Dauer Porsche 962 LMs. 12 were made in total. It has the fastest acceleration, 0-60 in 2.6s!!!! and it costs a lot!!! Pic: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm

7. 6 1950 Mercedes 300SL based on today's 500SL but installed with AMG-enhanced 6.0 V8. Pic: http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm

8. Mercedes-Benz Pullman (Replica). Pic: http://www.autogallery.org.ru/k/m/mbo2423.jpg

9. 3 Cizeta V16Ts. The fastest? car in the late 80s/early 90s. 0-60 in 4.4s. I think just a few of them exist. Pic: http://www.cizetausa.com/links/CizetaSpecifications.asp

10. 2 Jaguar XJR-15s. Remember NFS Hot Pursuit?Smile Pic: http://www.rapidcars.com/xjr15.html
http://autozine.kyul.net/article/brunei/sultan.htm

11. A lot of Ferraris including the 1st 355 Spider.
3 Ferrari F40s (Red, White, Black). He also has at leat one rare F40 LM.
5 Ferrari F50s (Red, Silver, Black, Yellow, White). All of the F50s are customized and they cost 1.3million pounds each. I think all of them he owns are special right-hand drive ones.
3 Ferrari 456GT Venices (Estate). There are a couple of others owned by other collectors.
3 Ferrari 456GTs (Saloon/Sedan)
3 Ferrari 456GTs (Convertibles)
2 Ferrari Mythos" (Red, Blue)
6 Ferrari FX
1 Ferrari 550 Spider with automatic gearbox
Sergio Pininfarina, the world-famous auto designer, was hired to design most of these cars. Pininfarina also designed the Ferrari Bolide (modified F50), which was turned down by the S.O.B. He keeps it in his garage and never drives it.

13. The world's only right hand drive CLK GTR (also in NFS HP)

14. 5 Bugatti 110SS Special Editions in different colors. Here's a pic of his silver one: http://www.tvrfreak.com/Albums/Trips/2002%2008%2004%20England%20Eddie's%20Cerbera,%20Mo dena%20Motors/DSC03516.JPG

15. And last but not least - 8 McLaren F1's in a lot of colors including 2 LM version. 5 LMs were made and the S.O.B. wanted them all but Gordon Murray didn't let that happen.

16. He also has all the F1 championship winning cars since 1980.

This is where his huge garages are: http://www.classicdriver.com/upload/images/magazin/week_25_00_02/car_pop12.jpg

Please leave your thoughts and comments and any other information that you know about this guy's collection and let me know if I had made any mistakes in making the list.

I forgot to mention in my previous post that the Sultan bought 12 Rolls Royce Phantoms last year. His brother has been recently been allowed back into Brunei by the Sultan. Here's the link with the info.

This is confusing... the Ferrari Mythos (the last pic of the ferrari) was a concept so how could the sultan own it?

woops... i got it wrong... thats the FX not the mythos... my fault... that car is estimated to be 2million USDollars
