I know what to do if my brand new car has this issue. "The owner" as you mentioned doesn't know. And its not an "issue". With so many cars leaving the factory everyday, these things go unnoticed sometimes, thats what PDI is for.
And PDI is the SOLE responsibility of the dealership not Toyota Indus Motors. Dealership is meant to inspect a car from bolt to bolt before being handed over to the person. Tell your friend not to make a hue and cry all day long, instead if there is an issue, go to the dealership and feed them something in a way he means BUSINESS.
If he says "after paying 1.8 million, why am I supposed to do this?!"; tell him when you buy a house worth 4 or 5 crore Rs, you DO check and get everything right before the payment and if anything is proved against what was promised and provided to you in written, you sue the party and tell them to fix it.
One doesn't simply say "bhai 4 karorre tou dia hay ab aur kia karun phir b gandi cheez mil gai".
I paid 2.5 million for my car, Toyota Azad Motors. But I told the guy beforehand that I KNOW how to look at and check a vehicle, if I even find one scratch on the paint let alone a misaligned tail lamp, he and I are gonna have problems and this Altis is going to stick to his memories for some time. And the car was delivered to me via a private truck! All flawless and perfect! Alhamdolillah.
