hey spectra & ser_gtr i have a 98 nissan sunny converted it to g15 (efi) 3 years back nw its time for a swap again cuz da old one is having issues nw

the main issue is wd the throttle body the MAP sensor is out of order so RPM is not stable........
shd i go for a carby one nw?

The CD 20 is tough as tough comes and very miserly on fuel.

The reason it is not popular here is that once you remove the cylinder head bolts - buy new ones they are torque to yield bolts - secondly the timing belt installation is a little art. (mechanics cant understand TTY bolts)

Finally fill with proper coolant mixture and just check it through the expansion tank - if you open up the cap - bleed the system from the valve.

These engines will outlast the toyota 2C by a few magnitudes - Ive rebuilt CD17s and they are super super sweet engines even after 150K Kms.

The nozzles I prefer to use in them are DN0 SD293 (whisper nozzles) or the regular DN0 SD211 (forklift CD17) nozzles

U can buy this engine for 25 to 28K
Our old engine was adjusted for 5000 rupees.
Maintenance of this one is easier because it is a relatively newer generation so availability and price is not a problem at all.

hi guys,im using nissan cd17 with my b13.my cd 17 is vibrating so much & no pulling power.this vibration comes interior also.and burning diesel a lot.
some times when i start the engine,it miss firing so much until uprising engine temperature.after that it running without any misfire.but vibration still on.
heater plugs,injectors are ok.
im very angry on my car now.:S

if you are in habit of washing your hot engine with cold high pressure water - your pump is probably bad.

to set timing on this engine there is a technique - search these forums for it. Its not very hard, just requires some extra tools and a bottle of "blanco"

the above is taken in consideration that your nozzles are at correct break pressure and your pump can deliver correct amount of fuel on each delivery valve. if not then you need to get it adjusted. Do not let an average idiot shop do it. Places like Cummins, DPS etc can do it for you according to the factory specification. Doing it on andaaza will kill economy and be like an smoky earthquake.

In proper tune this engine can give you 20 km/lit

bravo that big engine is really cheap.
i was went 2 times at ahata mithu khan
once for carby cultus engine and found one for 75k for engine with gearbox so changed my decision and proceeded for an overhaul and found out that engine block is in good condition only required rings replacement spent 12k.

for the second time i was there for daewoo cielo 1.5 mpfi engine and found only engine for 60k so again went for an haul but this time engine block was not in good condition so bore,polish done new pistons head make and took 3-4 days for this job ended up spending 20-25k. nowadays doing running and finding Automatic Transmission fluid 4litre can at reasonable price as im empty pocket now. found zic atf it was 500 per litre, total pump also sells atf but not know their prices.

Yes you can. I have used cd20 in my car (nissan b11 1985) like 6years back. I swapped it after cd17.
I used it for 3 years it was great on local. Diesel at that time was 65rs per litres and then it was last 113 rs per litre.
It used to give me 14kmpl in local and 17-18kmpl on long.
And it was good with ac.

A very great engine it is.

Bro nice work done there.
I myself have a Nissan wingroad which comes with a CD20 Diesel engine with 5 speed manual gearbox. And maintaining here locally is really difficult. I had overheating problem since last year and since then the car is parked. I was hoping if it's possible to get hold of your supplier to provide me with a CD20 engine that would bring back my car to life.
