This was a car eagerly awaited at least by me especially after seeing it at the Auto Expo in 2008.Was launched early in 2009 but I was disappointed by looking at the car.It looked awesome at the Auto Expo but that then was a concept car.
[blue] Maruti Suzuki's decision to manufacture the A-Star car in India is part of parent Suzuki's overall strategy to make India the manufacturing hub for the production of small cars like the Alto, Swift, and Maruti 800. We may consider manufacturing the A Star later in China which will cater to the Chinese market only. In that case we may have to export auto components from India to China, said Shinzo Nakanishi MD Maruti Suzuki.
The firm hopes to export about one lakh units of the A-Star to Europe. In about 2-3 years from the launch, we may export to S America and the SE Asian region, he said. [/blue]
In most of Europe it has replaced the Alto but it co exists with the old Alto in India.
It is priced between 3.75 and 5 lakhs depending on the variants.
The silver is the concept car while the red is the one on the roads now.
