I thought my first post on the forum would be a different one but looks like I have to step in because this seems to be getting out of hand. Let me introduce myself. My name is Mazhar and I drive the H2 which started it all. Been in Dubai for the past 42 years and have done more off-roading than many people can think of because its my job now !!
Let me start with Liwa. H2 or any 4x4 might not come back from Liwa in one piece. But remember any vehicle is as good as its driver. I have seen people breaking their vehicles and rolling in Aweer and Khawaneej let alone Habab. And others have covered the Empty Quarter upto Saudi border, Yemen border and Oman border all through the desert. And come back in one piece.
As far as Big Red (the dune ) is concerned it has changed a lot in the past 15 years or do. Many years back, one side of the dune, was used for sand skiing !! It was so steep. No 4x4 could even think of climbing that side. But now with little bit of experience and a good 4x4 you could climb it from any side. Or at least I can. And Janj posted the pics up that you have seen. Still not everyone can do it. Maybe you could not. But that does not mean nobody can.
Do join us us in the desert and let the 4x4 do the talking. Tell us what you drive, how long you have been driving, how often you go to the desert ? Let be nice and stop this unfriendly behavior. One should only say things in a forum that they have the courage to say in person.
Have a nice day.
