Claybars help a lot in reviving the paint job... a soft polish would do the trick afterwards... ideal for reviving.
But they won't remove scratches.
A hard, abrasive compound polish on other hand can be dangerous for the paint job in the hands of a newbie but can do both functions with careful use...
Get a moderate level compound Polish, use in v.little amounts, apply, spread quickly and remove quickly..
Don't press or rub too much.
It would revive the paint..
