Sorry for being off topic as the discussion is about 20D corolla, but since there're are lot of experts, I need your suggestions.
Is it good to buy a charade (turbo/non-turbo) diesel economy wise?
People say stay away from it, because charade diesel engine is the most difficult engine to fix once it starts troubling. timing belt, fuel pump and lot of other things need to be change at least twice a year even if you drive less.
However, some factors attract me a lot for this car:
1) Fuel economy, the car goes 22 kmpl in city without AC, it's confirmed! so the fuel cost at present is 4.5 rupees per km. While running mehran on petrol is around 7 rs per kilometer, again confirmed because my office fellow has mehran 97.
2) Looooooooooooooonggggggggg Qs on CNG stations! Diesel pumps are empty, it takes no time to fill up, and what they say, "time is money"
3) These cars are cheaper than CNG mehran, khyber and charade. I've seen some good cars around 1.5 to 1.8 lac and even very nice cars not more than 2 lac
4) Last but not least, i get 100% free trunk space! and less load on rear axle because of no CNG cylinder.
So if I get a good condition diesel charade in 1.3 to 1.5 lac range, shall I buy it?

Ali
