the most common breed that we eat is the broiler. grows to full size in 35-40 days.
then there's the desi murghi, which is natural breed. which takes several months , around ~6-8months, plus minus.
desi murghi for consumption is expensive and for egg production it is also slow.
Compared to the commercial breed Hyline W36 which is one of the most popular ones. it takes ~5months to grow to egg laying age and then lays eggs for ~1yr and then they are sold in market for consumption.
the ordinary colored choozay you buy from the street vendors are probably some low quality broiler breed they got from a cheap hatchery. It's kind of cruel what it happening in the poultry industry. they are not treated as living animals, rather objects.
the broilers in the poultry farms are fed from what I've heard, the waste of chicken (from street chicken vendors) and perhaps waste of mutton and fish as well (not sure). Plus other nutrients are mixed and some chemical stuff and what not...
So basically, even a broiler raised at home is better than what you get from the shop.
so there you go, thats all there is to the poultry industry.
