Dear All!!!
As having an extensive research on these JDMs. I am pretty sure that some of you are enthusiasts who knows the technological differences in all these JDMs 660CC. For the Majority who is worried about their car's Fuel Consumption here are the facts which i am sure will clear everybody's confusions.
The 660CC JDMs (all brands) cars which were imported in the 1st phase. i.e. were 2006---to 2009 Models having CONVENTIONAL 3 SPEED AUTO GEAR TRANSMISSION with HYDRAULIC POWER STEERING. They are a bit heavier on fuel and power delivery as well. having city avg of 10 to 13 km/L & Highway 15 to 17 km/L depending on the driving style.
The 660CC JDMs (all most all brands) cars which were imported in the 2nd phase were 2007 to 2010 Models were a Bit Modified having mostly CONVENTIONAL 4 SPEED AUTO TRANSMISSION with same Hydraulic power steering which gives slightly better milage then its 3 speed Auto counterparts. i.e. 13 to 15 km/L in City and 16 to 18 km/L on highway.
The 660CC JDMs (all most all brands) cars which were imported in the 3rd phase were 2010 to 2015 (to date). All these are equipped with CVT (continuously variable Transmission) with ELECTRIC POWER STEERING & ECO IDLING STOP, hence conserving power from both sides i.e. reducing power loss from Conventional Auto Gear Box and Hydraulic Power steering giving practically lighter feeling in drive as well as enhanced fuel economy i.e. 16 to 20 km /L in city and 20km/L plus on highways.
This is a Technological revolution which comes with higher price tag.
Now like the New Wagon R and some other Brands, a Hybrid typo system (Encharge) is introduced to further give an instant surge from stand still and contributes even greater economy figures approaching around 30km/L plus minus but the price difference and calculation of fuel savings over the span of lets say 4 years must be calculated to get an idea which car suits you in your budget.
A 2014 import fresh car must be compared with a 2007/2008/2009 maintained car for 3 to 4 years keeping in view the fuel difference cost over a specific milage per year, maintenance cost, parts cost, initial price difference, pocket budget, overall affordability and personal preferences to decide which one suits you.
as like me.....I love to have a JDM 660CC with all latest gadgets / Technology like 2014 or 2015 Wagon R, Honda N-Wagon, Honda N-one, Move Custom as a single car preferably a Turbo version........
............but i recently bought a NICELY MAINTAINED NISSAN OTTI aka Mitsubishi EK as a 2nd car which is flawless and suffix my need of preserving and limiting my Civic 1.5Turbo for Highway or some specific use only......I am surprised that it is so comfortable that i have taken a highway trip as a test case and to my surprise found very much comfortable which i didn't expected with a decent AVG of 15.5km/L approx driving between 90 to 110km/hr which i feel is quite decent for such a small car with 4 speed Auto Gear and would have been squeezed more if driven around 80km/hr..
Hope to have cleared the doubts of those who are having low fuel milage.......
What i feel is, its useless to give them hard throttle, just drive them in a calm way and you will get a surprise in fuel economy in 3 speed earlier models also like Pino, Alto, Esse, Mira etc.......
