the original paint blenders for this car were sikkens I believe - there are two suppliers to Honda though. The aftermarket finish of Standox is really good - but dont use a mix n match of products, get the whole paint system. The guy sanding the car should know HOW to sand it. usually shops employ a poor kid and hand him a bucket, a piece of wood and a few sand papers to just grind down - sanding may look like a simple job but its not. If he is to sand near the door edges - make him sand both door edges as "one piece" that way there would be no dips in the reflection where two panels join.
If you are opting for a full refinish then ask the painter if he can not make the stupid orange peel also known as "daana" on the car. All surfaces of the car should look like wet glass - Honda civics are cheap boxes and their paint is equally cheap and "blasted on" - no heed to finish at all - thats why the original paint looks worthless on these cars.
