80 CNG stations reopen in Lahore
LAHORE: Around 80 CNG stations of the city on Friday resumed sales after taking stay orders against the SNGPL’s directives halt supplies. Almost 500-metre-long queues of vehicles were witnessed at various CNG stations on College Road and other areas as soon as the supplies resumed at 5pm. All Pakistan CNG Association Punjab Chairman Capt (r) Shuja Anwar told Daily Times that the sale of gas was resumed at 80 stations. “It is our right. We cannot see our employees jobless,” he remarked. It is noteworthy that reacting to a raid by SNGPL officials on January 20, the owner and workers of a CNG station held a government official hostage for more than two hours. Later, he was released on the interference of a DSP. APCNGA Supreme Council Chairman Ghiyas Paracha claimed that the ongoing CNG crisis was artificial, which had been engineered to boost imports of petrol, LPG and LNG to benefit certain lobbies.
