Koenigsegg charges forward with 1,500-hp Regera hybrid
Called the Regera, it shares an obvious link to the conventionally powered Agera, but with a plug-in hybrid powertrain. At its heart sits the same 5.0-liter twin-turbo V8 as the Agera, but with smaller turbos that spool up faster to produce 1,100 horsepower and coupled to a suite of electric motors kicking in another 700 hp. When they're both working in tandem, the system will produce more than 1,500 horsepower and just as much torque. So not only can it run on pure electric power alone (and trounce most any EV in the process), but according to Koenigsegg, the combined efforts of the hybrid powertrain make the Regera the "fastest accelerating, most powerful production car ever."
