My BRV manual average suddenly went down to 12.
so after thinking about it , I went to Honda and got them to change the oil. My car had run a total of 2300 km since october 2020 (purchase date) and i changed oil in first week of march.21
I thought that for a new engine the first oil should be changed early as honda had advised 5000 km or 3 months but i changed in 2300 km in around 4.5 months.
Mileage has become better, and eco light lights up more frequently now. Oil was 0 w20 caltex which is the recommended oil .
But definitely after my car has run more than 15,000 / 20,000 km , i will ask them to change to at least 10w40. But if it will affect my warranty then i won't.
If you take in consideration that 0w20 is a pakistan made oil, then its a risk. if you are going to buy pakistan made oil then go for a better oil like 10-40 or 20w50.
I am still waiting for people to post sites which say that 20w50 will destroy engine
I use havoline 20w50 in toyota 1999 and 2007 model both. The 1999 model was emitting some smoke and i went to mechanic and he told me that this models engine is very strong and most probably you will only have to change the rings only. And he was right i only had to change the rings. The head was sent to kharadia and he said that it was fine.
And now i am still using 20w50 oil in it.
