Hey Guys,
Sorry for the delayed trip details. I got super busy in Islamabad from the day I came here.
Anyways here goes my details.
So, I didn't exactly note down which city I reached at what time, but the entire journey took me 25 hours to complete as compared to my 2012 journey which I did in 14 hours. I will give the reason for this enormous delay in reaching Islamabad from Karachi in this long.
One thing which caused massive delays for me was the amount of truck traffic on N5 where the usual trucks are overtaking each other and you have to break you speed every now and then, for me it was almost every minute which was very annoying as I could not average a 100km/h on the highway for the 1700kms I drove from Karachi to Islamabad (house to house). Some people in Islamabad are telling me to hit the N5 on Sunday as there's lesser truck traffic but I can't make sense of that as what does a Sunday have to do with truck traffic on the National Highway (N5)
As far as SINDH is concerned, yes everyone was right, the roads are good now, nothing wrong anywhere. I was concerned about the Moro patch but that is all good too.
I travelled on the N5 throughout so have no clue about the road conditions of N55.
One patch to look out for is the Bhawalpur-Lodhran-Multan (N5) road which wasn't good. Occasional bumps and all are still there and haven't changed since the last time I was on this road 4 years back. Ironically the road on the opposite side, which is heading from Multan-Bhawalpur is very good so I shouldn't have issues heading back to Karachi form Isloo.
One thing I did once reaching Multan was that upon the end of N5 inside Multan, I turned left onto N70, went straight, then turned left onto Multan Road and caught the M4 (motorway) which is very convenient and fast to cross from Multan to Khanewal. The road before the motorway starts at times did confuse me if I was heading the right direction but keep going down the small shoddy road and you will see the motorway entrance to the left and then its a smooth sail. One thing to note is that, it is a 60-70 km stretch on the motorway which has no fuel stations, nothing, just a road. So best bet is to have ample fuel before you hit that road. I travelled on the Multan to Khanewal motorway at night and didn't see a single car on my side of the road and saw a police car once on the opposite side. So be careful on that motorway as its open from the sides and can be a security hazard plus I had a few dogs run across the road also while I was travelling at 130 which almost hit me so I slowed down to a 100 after almost hitting the dogs. I did see some people standing on the side of the road as well so best bet is to push the car on that stretch and look out for animals.
From thereon I had two choices, head straight towards Lahore and the catch the Lahore-Islamabad motorway OR head towards Gojra from Khanwel-Chichawatni-Tobateksingh-Gojra and the catch the Gojra to Faisalabad Motorway and then the Faisalabad-Islamabad motorway but I could not find out for sure if the Gojra to Faisalabad motorway was complete and open for public use therefore I went straight for Lahore.
Once I hit the Lahore Islamabad motorway, little did I know that the entire motorway is under repairs from about 9 months and their work hasn't completed as yet therefore it took me 6 hours to complete the Lahore-Islamabad 367km leg which was very frustrating as at times the entire road towards Islamabad of the motorway is closed for some kilometres and a diversion is led into a single lane on the opposite side of the road. Usually trucks were going very slow in those single lane diversions which caused a lot of delays. There was a lot of mist on the lahore islamabad motorway stretch and I saw people travelling at 100+ km/h into that which is very stupid as they can easily hit someone if someones car is slow or even broken down in the middle of the road, I could hardly see 10 feet ahead of the car. I was travelling at about 2am on the motoway so I was bound to be hit with mist.
I guess that's all I can input guys, hope this info helps people travelling this stretch in 2016. Cheers guys and thank you for all the help.
Ciao ! Oh and sorry for no pictures of the roads and all, apparently my phone fell outside the car on a stop and the back camera stopped working every since
