While browsing the forum and especially in FS threads, we come across a term alot "Old School". So many guys wonder, What is Old School.
Allow me to demonstrate this by Illustrations.
Any thing/ product from the old days is known as Old School. How?
This is old School, because from 1976
This is not, because its from 2014
This is old school.
This is not.
This is old school.
This is not.
Is it enough to differentiate now, what is old school and what is not.
But the question is why "Old School" products in car audio are considered superior?
The answer is simple. Not all "Old School" products are superior, but some are.
Let me reason it with an example, compare a 1994 model Mehran with 2014 Mehran. The difference in built quality is enormous. With the passage of time the quality has dropped significantly.
So the old school equipment was mostly hand built, and used some high quality grade internals. it was mostly analogue or "Class A" you can say. That analogue components/ internals did have noise but it was so symmetrical that it contributed to the attributes of pleasure known as "Warmth" today.
MCintosh, Adcoms, SS and many others are old school and are still unbeatable in built quality and reliability.
Now this sensitization will help many members to assess the product on merits, not on "Old School" tag.
