I just purchased a Liana Lxi 2007. I got it for Rs. 625,000. I am a researcher by profession, so I probably read close to 10% of ALL pages related to Liana/Aerio on the Internet before making my decision. The most I concentrated on were the negative ones, which account for probably 90% of all comments. I still purchased it. And its running beautifully. Why?
First, I discovered that 50% of the negative comments were related to the shape and name of the car. I agree it should not be called Liana. Punjabis should say 'Le-a', Urdu speaking should say 'Le-ai-o', etc.
Its also true that no sane person would exchange Liana with any car of its official class. Thats not because of the quality of the car (PakWheels fora are full of complaints for ALL cars, not just Liana), this is because of the resale value.
Thirdly, I went to mechanic and asked him whether I should buy Liana. He said NO. I said ok. I asked him for various Liana things, he showed me, which meant the parts were definitely available. And inexpensive too.
Finally, I could absolutely NOT find anything practically wrong with the car that was exclusive to this car. All cars need tuning. Liana needs tuning. Plus Personally I think its a japanese car in Pakistani label. I treat it like my Belta, and I'm very happy with it.
Yes, the pick is slow on CNG. So? I have to travel 30 to 40 kms every day. The AC is extraordinary, though, and on petrol the car is excellent.
Therefore, my two bits. Liana's market perception is excellent from a buyer perspective. I have never met a person who said his Liana DID NOT SELL at all. What do you think, people would go and look at a Honda City Vario, drool and buy it immediately? They would take out 10 problems, see it thrice, and then buy.
So Liana is a good car, the low price is an incentive not a bad thing. All used cars have problems, Liana also has problems. They can be fixed. I buy for 625, fix problems for 25, I have a beautiful beautiful car for 650.
