Opt for Toyota Landcruiser LC80 and try to find one with part-time 4wd and you will never regret, stay away from 1KZ prados as its quite heavy on fuel, 5-6 in city and 8-9 on long routes, however I have observed a good maintained LC80 with manual transmission giving 7 in city and 9km/l on highway at a speed of 100km/h.
It has got plenty of room for upto 7 persons with modern luxuries like sunroof, dual AC, fridge and the comfort of coil springs too.
Its the last model that can bear harsh tracks being solid axles front and rear.
I have a 1989 HJ60 with 2H stock unoverhauled engine beside 425000 kms driven, and it gave me 8.3 km/l in city in feb this year and 11km/l on way to multan @ 90km/h. what else you want from an old school SUV with poor aerodynamics, I want to make it clear that dont get afraid of bigger engines these engines lasts too long with good fuel economy as compared to 1KZ and 1KD.
Just find a well maintained LC80 with part-time 4wd and preferably manual transmission and its fuel consumption will not be more than 1KZ prado anyway.
